I just talked to the guys and they’re down with the program. I know you were talking about dropping off the shoes on Tues or Wed but the show is doing a big stunt on Friday morning for shoe donations that will probably get some pretty serious media (tv) exposure. Might be a better promotional move for you to drop them off at the event on Friday. Just thinking out loud.

Please post my response if you think it will help. Because of the legal issues with doing something like this we’ve partnered with The Mustard Seed of Central Florida (a local charity) who are collecting the cash donations on behalf of the Kicks for Guns promotion. Wed the 26th the show will send out a cast member with Detective Barb from the Orlando Police Dept to purchase shoes with the money raised. OPD has got a 2 for 1 deal with Reabok so depending on how the shoe donations go we’ll probably end up buying a lot of Reeboks. So there are a couple of options the easiest probably being donate the money to the Mustard Seed and let them buy the shoes but a truck bed full of shoes makes a nice picture. In both cases the public benefits from your donation.

Is it appropriate to post your reply to encourage further participation from the membership?

Also are you working with a local shoe supplier. Maybe we can purchase the shoes through them, that way we could provide more bang for the buck.... and skip the shipping costs. Just thinking out loud here also. It's all good.

I just got off the phone with Sketchers regarding a reduced rate purchase.
I forwarded the information to them including the e-mail's and forum link.
Most of the other name brand companies...Nike, Addidas...ect have application processes to be done before (30 days) eligibility for such purchases are available.
IF I can get an idea of what our total will be...we "Might" be able to get an extension on the donation time. If needed.
I have a local Sketchers store here that, through cooperate, could arrange for me to pick the disccounted shoes here locally, then make the drop next Friday.
That will save the $$ for shipping and put it twards the shoes.
I will be in contact with Joanne, and Tony...then put them in contact with Sketchers to make the purchase...then pick them up here.
We will see what the shoe company has to say when I contact them regarding the total $$ collected. Go from there.

This is a promotion by the Monsters in the Morning show out of Fla, that is an XM satalite morning show. They will be taking illegal guns off the street and giving shoes to the kids that bring them in.
They need donations of shoes, not money, so if we could get one of our members to kindly take the money and buy what name brand shoes he could, Nike , addidas, so-on, and present them to the show that would be great.
The orlando area is headed for a record year in deaths from kids having illegal guns and hopefully this can make a difference. The last time the did this , they got 350 illegal guns from the hands of young kids.

We have about a week and a half, the promotion is scheduled for july 28th. If everyone could pitch in a few bucks say $10 I think we could get a few pair of shoes and who knows , maybe save some parents son or daughter;s life.

So please take this serious, and anyone in the orlando area let us know if you are willing to help with this, and lets see if we can make a difference.
