First of all I love all the diesel performance. I think it's kick ass to see a 6000 pound quad cab 4X4 running mid 11's. So cool.

However, I saw a modded one at the track with some mods barely break into the 13's and I was pretty disappointed. Are these things overhyped for basic bolt ons? Is it rare to see one so modded (aftermarket turbo, bully dog Propane injection etc.) that can actually keep up or beat us bone stock RC/QC SRT10s?????

I've run into a couple on the highway but there was too much traffic to play.

What are your guys' experience with running against some of these on the street? Is there anything be on the lookout for? I'm sure they're better off the line with 4x4 and all that torque but the last thing I want is to lose a race because I was ignorant to what I was up against.

What say ye?

I saw a turbo diesel one night at Houston Raceway Park that made me say “WHOA.â€￾ It totally ripped an 8 cyl. Unleaded powered, lower truck a new poop chute. If I hadn’t seen it I would have said “BS.â€￾ But it went down like that and the diesel ran low 12’s down the 1320. It made me reflect for a moment in my mind how I would hate to be the one to underestimate THAT guy when it counts.

Exaaaactly...That's what I'm talking about.

So far the only thing I have to go on is that if a diesel truck revs his throttle trying to get me to go and I don't see black smoke, I'm pretty sure I'll smoke him.

Black smoke=potential SRT10 killer......maybe?

Saw a truck behind me at at light with stacks on both sides of the cab.:driver: I laughed and turned the corner. He also turned, but to the far lane. Then I heard him winding up so I though "Lets Go"!:burnout:
I was giving it all she had, but I couldn't pull away. We were going about 130 :vroam: when we saw the traffic in front of us had stopped. We got to the light and he was laughing when he turned.:motz: I later ran into the guy and he told me he was running about 900hp and that if he had known that I wanted to run he would have put it in 4x4 cause he couldn't stop spinning:burnout:

The good news. He later blew up his motor:D Mine still runs:rock:

Last fall saw a brand new 4X4 Ford with twin stacks in the bed...spraying a 300 shot, belching two huge black plums with times in the mid 10's time after time.

Scared me.

Bought my first Cummins powered Dodge in 1990 and got rid of my last one when I bougth this truck. You would be amazed how much power you can get out of those 360 cubic inches. For under $1500.00 you can be in the 550 HP and 850 lb/ft torque range.

Probably for the price of a Paxton on one of our trucks you will have a smoker that will beat a lightly modded SRT with ease.

Now for the scary part. There are a shit load of them out there.

Sorry Homey love ya but you are possibly incorect in this instance! One of my good friends is Tom Matson JR. and I can tell you that his Dodge dealership recommends these guys and when I had my big truck no probs! but let me know if you know diff!!!

There were a couple at MATR running pretty good. Both real sleepers. One was running 11.5 and the other 12.sumptin'. You'd never suspect you were going to be beat until your suckin' down the black smoke.

My tow vehicle was a 2005 Dodge 6.0HO Cumminsturbo runnin serious horsepower and I never had a problem in addition to that Tom Jr. has had several people with Ho Turbos puttin out over 1000hp without any problems from them!!!!:D

Agreed....

BEWARE of a truck billowing black smoke from it's 6" pipes.... You NEVER know what you could be into.

I was cruising down I10 on my why to LA when a guy gets infront of me and keeps sending puffs of black smoke all over my truck. I was thinking that I was going to smoke his ass when we get clear of traffic. When we got clear of traffic we let her rip,,,,,,he steady pulled away all the way up to 135 then I shut it down .......he slowed down and was pointing at me laughing...after that I just do like most vette owners and pretend that I wont waste my time

the really nice thing about the cummins is they are 250,000 miles plus motors,i don't think with heavy mods they will last that long, they get better gas mileage than gassers.thats why i have one(04) and the wife has one(07)

they aren't as fun to drive.theres nothing like side stepping the clutch on the big ole v10
