This is the Liberty that Thomas Jefferson spoke of in his liberty and security.

Personal liberty to choose your life's path by your own free will.

and the security was that of the social nature and if you give up your liberties to the government for social security then you deserve neither.

This is a very slippery slope in times of war..........

How does one effectively protect the freedom of our entire culture and simutaneously root out those who use that very freedom to wipe out liberty itself......

Those who deny the existence of our enemy and ignore our responsibility to seek them out and destroy them risks losing their freedom altogether.... This enemy is real and we must not allow them to continue their evil deeds.

I wish to continue choosing what God I follow.......... and I will gladly die in persuit of that end.

A concept we seem to be drifting furthur away from, politically, everyday.

With the nations demographic of a near even split of liberal vs: conservative, it is virtually impossible for a real right winger to become President. In fact, it's my opinion that they've all dropped out already......

Election year (by nature) draws everyone to the center of the road for the sake of popularity (read electability)... This is why so many accusations of ("waffler") are hurled (about)... they're usually quite valid.

I doubt that any hard lefty or righty could ever win this time unless some reckless, evil fkr set off a suitcase nuke at the Superbowl or something of that nature..... May God forbid it......

Mitt is the furthest right of anyone and he's obviously slicker than 2 eels in a bucket'a snot..... I think it'll be a battle between the most "honorable and likeable" guy on the right vs: the most credible "vote for change" candidate on the left.... and my money's on Obama cuz he has no "I hate that sumbitch" stigma..... which Hillary does (gender specificity notwithstanding)....

It's becoming very interesting.....

I have to laugh when I recall (what) I wrote on the forum about 6-7 months ago..... That Mitt Romney was gonna be very significant in this race..... The response was "Mitt who.....!!!???"...lol

The very reason that we have a two party system...(maybe three...)

In our zeal to support politics that suit our personal preference we often forget that the two party system creates a dynamic tension that moderates extreme positions. Term limits are another control that assures that the voters are polled and act as auditors of the system that is supposed to be: "of the people, by the people and for the people..."
