life as I know it come to end

well the time has come, I have worked in the gulf of mexico for 15 years. Me and the wife want time together . We are moving to our cabin in Maggie Valley North Carolina. I will not be able to surf on a regular basis and we will not even have the vette to down the gap. But I will be able to takewalks with the wife and snowboard in the winter. My wife is getting transfered with her work but I am going to have to make a job change. So if anybody knows of any work near there let me know. I guess all that work to get a 200 ton captains lic does me no good in the mountains. Maybe I can find a job that in 5 or so years will be ok money. I am also going to start turkey hunting a little too.

Any how I do miss the truck but some changes are for the good,,,,, hopefully in the future I will get a sprint car and play in the dirt

Well think of it this way you got that 200ton lic because you wanted it. You worked hard to get it and prolly felt good about it when you finally got it. Now your wanting to move away with your wife because you want to you'll prolly work hard at it and feel good about it once you guys are there and living your life. I'm sure a job in construction will not be hard to find up there man. The Mtn's of NC is BOOMING. We've put numerous cabins in up there. If you've already got a cabin there, you're set dude.

Sure there are! Many of the construction companies we've used, uses cranes to erect our log structures. It's tough building on a mtn side!

I just went on vacation there a couple months ago.
Rented a log house for a week.
Beautiful place.....BUT....it is a economically depressed area.
It WAS a good place to go on vacation 15 years ago.
My experience there was not too good. The people there are real clanish and are far from friendly. I was spending good money in the area and everyone acted like they didnt want us there. I personally wont ever go back. I felt like I was in a tourist trap...just give me the money and leave attitude.
Thats just our experience there.
