What is the best/lightest battery for our trucks that maintains cranking amps and supplies enough juice so that voltage doesn't become an issue? What are the weight savings over a stock battery?

The only lighter ones I know of, besides a physically smaller one is the new Lithium ION's. But extremely $$$$$$$$$$$$ , $1500.00+. Crazy money!!! I'll try to get a link.

here is what i run comes in 8lbs only a 1000k

those LI-ION batteries are da bomb:party::D

I have seen people run power cells.

About 20-26 pounds used in car audio. Much smaller find them on ebay pretty cheap, but not 8 pounds tho, thats freaking light.

Fuck me run'n!!! Those are expensive Lol. 1. How long do they last? 2. Does it still put out enough voltage for the radio, power windows, a/c, and all that other stuff?

Not sure on longevity but a thousand bucks with the charger for almost 50lbs in weight savings.... sign me up!!!!

How long will that run on a charge? Are they really street applicable or just for the track?

I will drive my truck over 1500 miles in 5 days so i hope it is streetable...how long will it run on a charge?

it will be charged by the alternator just like any car

They are supposed to be very reliable, they do require a special charger though. They are very popular with the Lexus IF guys and corvette guys. I talked to the owner at length and he said the small motorcycle units will start his 600+ ci. twin turbo big block! His bracket actually got a little lighter after that pic was taken, so he will be about 9.5#'s for the bracket and battery with hardware.

Oh, umm... still mildly confused? So whats the charger for, race applications that don't charge themselves? Like running off of a stator? Or do these batteries just not hold a charge for long, like if you don't start your truck every week.

Actually LitIon batteries are known to hold a charge for over a year with no charge. They don't just slowly get weak like an acid battery. They are full strength till the point battery is low then it's dead. Weight savings is astounding!!! Anyone needing a new cordless drill should look into them. I may charge batteries twice- three times a YEAR with average use!

Knowing this goes against the grain here but doing a little figuren I find that the $1,000 I spend on the light weight battery will take me 2,857.2 miles with my type of driving. Don’t do the ¼ mile, even tho VENOMOUS1 wants me to just to see what the results would be, but do drive about 600 miles a week. If I shed 20 more pounds from my belly (already done 23 pounds) and take the factory jack junk out from under the front seat seems I would save bout the same as the light weight battery and get 4.77 more weeks of pure driving enjoyment
