lil red express

Nope. They had the E-58 police 360 in them with an 830 cfm thermoquad, dual exhaust with an H-pipe, and a special high stall convertor. The 78 did not have cats, the 79 did. Some had black interiors with buckets, some had a red bench. My 79 that I bought new ran 15.14 at 93 mph in 1980 with N-50'S on Cragars!!!!!

Fastest 0-100mph production vehicle in 78. They are a pain to keep immaculate unless you store them because of the oak wood on the sides of the bed and on the tailgate. I refinished the wood on the side of mine 8 times in the 16 years and 170,000 miles I owned it

I thought at one time they made a War Lock edition with the 440 in it. I've seen a couple, might have been something special that a dealership or someone did. They were black instead of red.

Where abouts is it in CO?

The only thing I have to offer on the subject

I've always wanted one of those, I prefer the single headlight in the 1st set of pics to the double stacked version - I think the '78 is the single?.
Either way, a 528 crate Hemi would slide right in :)

They did but the 360 was the badazz.....the 440 was a 2 bbl version of a monster that had been beaten by a liberal congress at the time...heck, I was there...

..

Then they did that POWER WAGON Version that was sweet too !!!Ahhhhh, the good ole days !!!

All the above posts are correct. They came with a 360. 2,188 made in 1978 and 5,XXX in 79.

I bought my 78 back in 87 and just finished restoring it from the ground up about 4 years ago.

I thought about adding a 79 to my stable but just not enough time or garage room.

Here are a few pics..
