I was told by another Srt owner that there is no one in my area that can do a front end alignment correctly. Is there a special technique used with our trucks to do this? He said he found a viper dealer in Denver that has their own alignment shop and could do his truck. Oh BTW the guy owns a body shop, so I tend to believe what he says on the matter. He told me one place couldn't fit the alignment paddles on the wheels so changed them out to a smaller wheel the make their do its measurements. I feel any thing that goes bad with my truck is going to have to make a 300 mile road trip just to get fixed:(

any shop can do it if you put 20" rims on the front. the spare is one, so you just need one more!

the tire place by me was kind enough to put 20 " rims on to do my alignment.

That's what the guy told me they put 20's on. But wouldn't that give you inaccurate readings. Say they get the smaller tire within .1 of specs but when you put the stockers back on wouldn't the variation be bigger.

Overall diameter is the same because the aspect ratio of the tire is higher.

The tire shop where I got my tires didn't have any problem with the 22's. He must have newer equipment for the larger wheels.

I took mine to a Firestone tire shop and they had no problems either. :dontknow:
For $99 Firestone will give you the alignment AND all subsequent alignments free of charge for as long as you own your vechicle.;)

Did the alignment help with the darting problems, my truck will almost change lanes when you hit a bump.

NO thats from running a big fat tire on your front end. Just have to live with that unless you want to put some skinnies on there.

I thought that too. When I had my new tires put on I also had them do the alignment so I don't know what to give credit too but my truck drives like a dream now. No more darting. Before you had to stay on high alert not knowing which way it was going to go next. Now it is completely predictable. I know General hasn't alway been the best tire, but the Grabber UHP's on my truck have been great. Wet weather hydroplaning is a thing of the past too. Handles just as good in the rain as on dry pavement. I'll get them again.

I'm confused. What does rim size have to do with alignment. If the hub(s) are "square" it shouldn't matter if you're running skinnies, spare or OEM. . . Am I right? Anything mounted to the dialed in hub should roll true, granted the wheels are true.

Someone enlighten me. . . :)

They are talking about getting the alignment done/checked. Some places have to mount a smaller rim because their equipment won't expand large enough to clamp onto the 22". They might be able to go 18" or 20" but the jaws on the pieces that mount to the rim is what they are talking about. Newer equipment takes into consideration the larger wheels we have today.

Thanks for the responses guys. The guy that made me raise my eye brow to alignments also said the pcm flash is not worth it also. So I tend to believe he is playing out in left field all by himself. Among other things I did not agree with him. But I listened to him just in case I could learn something new.

The PCM is a whole different story. According to other QC owners it really wakes it up and does away with the torque managment. QC owners who have it swear by it. Just don't tow with it.
