I have a 06 RC and am getting the stereo done. I am thinking of having them do the Sneaky Pete logo on the box to jazz it up a bit. What one would be the correct one to put on the box? The one with just the head, or the one with the head and body?

Head is what I would prefer:D

Thats the one I prefer too. I'm just wondering that in the future if I get anything else with the logo, that it would match. For example, a key, oil cap, or Emblem to replace that Ram head on the front grill.

the head & neck is called Sneaky Pete. usually associated with Gen 1&2 Vipers. head on goes by Fangs, Gen 3 & up.

ok, makes sense. So whats the proper one for our trucks? Sneaky Pete or Fangs?
If I remember correctly, Gen 3 Vipers were introduced in 2003. If this is the case, then Fangs would be "proper", Correct?

Bear with me here... Still considered a nOOb with this truck.

Yeah, if you were going by generation, Fangs would be more correct. (He's my favorite too)

yes Fangs is considered "correct" for our trucks.
basically its what you like. there are plenty of accessories with either logo that would go well with your beast

Keeping the factory radio and highs for now, just adding subs. The guy doing it has been doing it for 15 years and I trust him 100%. He said it can be done so....
I did car audio for 12 years and with the right electronics, I don't see why it couldn't be done.
Just curious, what keeps taking your amp out? Power or input? Are you using a High/Low converer. If so, what kind? And is it taking out the converter as well as the amp?

have replaced all speakers with Infinity's. takin the input signal from the out put of the factory amp to the MTX re-Q5 sound processor to that "new" Alpine PDX-5 amp.
the 3rd amp installed today did not even make a noise. other 2 lasted about a day.
have checked the double checkin of all wirin for polarity, etc. & shows to be correct.
i'm so friggin frustrated can't hardly see straight
been next to impossible to find any info on our trucks system. only thing that most folks agree on is that its a VERY vehicle specific system

The only thing I can see, is that you are taking the signal from the amplified signal from the radio. I would tap into it before the amp. Found some pinouts and info here.
http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_nav.htm
Thats the same radio as mine, not sure on yours.
I am adding 2- Alpine PDX-1.600's and 4- SWR-1022D's. Should be pretty loud. I haven't had anything loud since I did 14- 12's in my 1993 Mustang over 10 years ago.
I am going to do the mids and highs after my vacation this month. Will then add the PDX-4.150 and probably Focal highs.

thanks man.
by the factory schematic there are only 4 wires from radio to factory amp & the amp/processor splits up the signal from there.
i have the non-nav setup.
14 12" woofers in a Mustang holy bat guano!!!!

ah, yea I don't have any of that. What has the tech at Crutchfield have to say about it/ They have to be wondering why they are replacing your amp alot.

yes they are for sure. have done all my wirin by their suggestin. & they have no idea. seems like i'm the only one havin probs with the PDX-5. this is the last one they will send me goin through them.
have asked if they know of another SRT-10 & they can't break down by customer question.
would an amplified signal screw up a sound processor &/or amp???

I am not familliar with the processor. Seems like a realy nice unit. A high signal will damage the input section of the amp for certain. An amp usually wants 3-7 volts on the input. You can check it on a multi-meter. Keep this in mind, I have not done car audio in 7 years. But this was true back then. I now am doing home audio, but low level audio hasn't changed. I would think that if you take a meter to the input of the processor, you will find that you are running alot more voltage into the processor and then into the amp.
From what I have seen of the processor you are using, it is meant to run high level into it. It is designed for "factory integration". Might be worth a call to MTX to see what they have to say. I would also check speaker impedance with the meter to make sure you dont have blown speakers from the first amp going out. Then that taking out the other amp.

thanks.
did check rf/lf volts out of the processor on the RCA cable. showed 10.36 volts. thats checkin volts to chassis ground. from + to - on the RCA cable no volts.
will check volts goin in & comin out of the re-Q5 tomorrow & touch base with them.
ohmed out all speakers & grounds. showed good.
do some more checkin tomorrow.
thanks again
