That watch without the diamonds on the bracelet is about $70k. Its a beautiful piece.........heavy as shit as I have tried em on before. Rolex has the most expensive diamonds in the world, hence why the price skyrockets to $231k!!!!

I am a watch guy, its a real hobby of mine.

Did you know that rolex makes over 300k watches a year. They are in no way limited, nor are they special.

If you want a really great watch for 6k I would go with the Zenith El Primero Chronomaster XXT. It is an amazing piece of art and only a few thousand are made in any year. Zenith are also considered the finest works builder in the wall.

As far as pricing, basically for any watch if you are paying more than 30% of list, you are not getting a good deal.

Wow was i wrong

I'm probably the peon of the group because I stand by my Victorinox. It's got all the functional specs needed to make a good watch. I got it for less than half-a-grand back when I started working. I've sent it out once for oil & tune after wearing it for 5 years. And, I only have to wind it on a rare Sunday.

Interestingly enough, they don't sell it anymore. Quality doesn't always make for return customers.:p

Being that Rolex is a privately held company and are very secretive of their numbers, how did you come up with that number?

Like I said I am a watch guy. Rolex's watch production numbers are quite well known. What most people don't know about watches is that there are very few works makers left. Swatch for instance owns Movado, Raymond Weil, MW and a few other brands. ETA works are the biggest work manufacturers and virtually every brand uses them at some point.

I thought Rolex made their own movements in-house.

Rolex does make their own movements now. For a longtime they used various manufacturers. Some were made in house others by people like Zenith.

All automatic's lose time eventually. Typically you want to get them serviced every 3 years, a high end quarts every 4.
