Anyone have this issue? I'm new to stick and the past couple days the shift into second or fourth clicks and feels somewhat loose...I'm afraid i shifted too hard and broke something...any ideas?

It feels like it's the plate that prevents you from shifting into reverse once moving or into first when going too fast

Have you ever had the shifter out of the truck?

I haven't as long as I've owned it, is it hard to do by myself? I don't want to get it apart and be screwed, haha

twist off the shift knob, remove cup holder and tray inserts, remove the 3 screws that hold the center console in, pull that up and off of the shifter (boot may fit tight around shift handle so be gentle) remove the boot between the shifter base and shifter stick check that those bolts are tight (if those are loose you should be done), remove the 7 or 8 screws holding the boot over the shifter and remove that, you should now be able to see the 4 bolts that hold the shifter base into the transmission, verify they are tight. I hope this helps.

I would not remove the screws in the ring around the boot, the clips that the screws go into sometimes get moved around and can give you trouble.Remove the shift knob,And the screws holding the console down, don't forget to unplug the cig.lighter,Then lift the console up.Slide the boot,With the console up and over the stick. You can now see all the bolts in the stick.Re-install.

Awesome, thanks for the description! I'll attempt this this weekend.

If you have any mechanical knowledge its easy.

When I down shift, the backload of the trans makes noise. Also feels more notchy the higher I rev and shift fast. I thought its normal for a viper spec t56.
