Loosing Clutch Fluid Internally?

I bought a new slave cylinder that mounts to the fire wall. Installed it and I had a pedal again and could easily shift between gears (w/ engine off.)

connected the wire sensor and checked everything else. started it up and pulled out of garage...pulled forward 10 ft pushed clutch in and truck wouldn't go out gear. braked it and stalled it. as I pumped the pedal a few times it got less and less pressure.

What could it be inernally that is causing this:dontknow:
 
i agree it has to be air in the system if your not seeing fluid on the ground.
 
I'm having the same damned issue. No leak to be seen but losing fluid. Not to the point of no clutch at all but just losing cluch pressure. came home tonight to bleed it and when I opended the fitting to bleed it a clump of what looks like white lithium grease squeezed out and now I can't get ANY pressure at all:mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: Must be a SILVER truck thing catching on!
 
The firewall part is the master cylinder, the slave is located inside the bell housing. My slave cylinder seeps a little fluid from time to time and you can see it at the bottom of the bell housing. It really doesn't leak enough to drip in the garage floor but will certainly cause clutch action issues when it gets low. Mine seems to work fine if you keep it full of fluid.
If there is air in the line, the fluid will appear to vanish but really it is just forcing the air out a little at a time. You will just need to keep bleeding until you get all the air out. You will need a helper (to pump/hold the clutch) and a 12 pack of beer to complete this process.
 
Just finished bleeding mine. Now have "some" peddle pressure but not like I remember it. I'll give it a try tomorrow and see if it is any better. I think I may just do a clutch upgrade this winter while the Buick is at the painter's:D

I need to do the upgrade too but my fun money has been thin lately. I figure when it goes out completely I'll fix it but so far I have gotten almost 2 years the way it is so who knows...

if you are getting that the fluid is comtanimated bad, replace the slave and the master, otherwise, you will keep bleeding for a good bit, it may have allready messed up the rubber in each

the one on the wall rarely goes bad, if you are replacing either you should replace the slave, your slave is leaking , ifyou check between the block and tranny you will probably find a gooey black poo in that area
 
BETTER!

Drove the truck to work this morning and at first it was still a little "soft" but quickly firmed up and so far today it has been just like new! :elefant: I will keep an eye on the fluid. I still suspect I have a leak though.:(
 
Sweet!!! You should flush it out good after driving it a little while. I'm planning to change my transmission fluid and flush mine tonight. I wanna be ready for the drags Saturday!!!

No, the tranny must be removed. The slave circles the main shaft. Usually, you can get it to work with a good bleed. However, the clutch upgrade is a great option if you have the cash.

I've noticed the clutch hydraulic hose runs very close to the exhaust on these trucks and that is probably most of the trouble. I'm planning to tie mine a little further away and add some insulation around it for extra insurance. The clutch fluid needs to be as cool as possible or it will release air molecules from the fluid which in turn causes the issue we all have.

Upon better inspection of mine this evening, I don't think it has ever leaked. I think the fluid has run from the oil pan back after a messy change. I'll clean it all up and watch it closer from now on.

going to bleed it like a stuck pig then hopefully go smoke the rest of my tires off....I've had a hell of a week and need to blow off some smoke! been stuck driving the work van all week! It only peels out in da dirt

Mine already has a "heat protection" wrap on it. Is this stock?? Or did prior owner add it?
