Been noticing my rig running at a very low idle when I start it. Oil pressure is @75, but it almost wants to stall. running at about 500-700 rpm. Once it gets up to temp, it seems to be better and I have had no issues while driving. I have to rev it up a bit or turn on the a/c for it to run at a higher idle. Runs so slow that you can hear the shifter rattle until it picks up rpms.

Anyone have this prob? I am going to the dealer Thurs so maybe it will be resolved. Just strange...

A PCM flash will raise your idle. Oil pressure will be high just because it is cold. How many miles on the truck?

11k on rig. Just started happening about a month ago. PCM issue maybe? Not engine light, but maybe a code is thrown. I dont have reader so no sure.

If a code is thrown then you Check engine light should be on. Just in case go out to the truck and turn the key on and off 3 times, leaving it on the third time. If there is a code it will display where the odometer is located. If it reads none then there is no code. I think some one had an issue like yours and it ended up being a bad TPS. I will have to search and see if I can find it.

I'm no mechanic but reading previous posts a few people had the TPS issue.

Maybe it could be that simple. I will mention it the the dealer on Thursday. I guess it is not too troublesome an issue.

Thanks guys....

Change anything lately?

Just throw some 15w50 in it, supposedly it takes care of all problems ;)

yeah he said it was normal... if it blows up it's still under warranty...

Low idle at start up

I have a 2006 and it did the same thing with only a few hundred miles on the truck. Replaced the TPS and was ok for a short time.

I found out that if I start the truck as soon as i put the key in and turn to start that it will idle too low.

I now turn the key on and wait until the bells and chimes stop and then start the truck. It seems to work ok now. I have 3000 Miles on the truck now.

Have no idea if this is a fix.

mine started acting funny after I put my volant CAI in.Switched to JMB CAI and it went away.Go figure.Mine was more of a surge/flutter between 500 and 700 rpm.I had the dealer look at it and they said it checked normal.I dont know if I screwed something up with the cai (TPS) install.Good luck and post up results!!

No CAI just yet. Still have stock air filter in to be honest... Justins will be next move for me along with a ton of his other goodies...

I will post the outcome from the dealer when I am done. I appreciate the feedback boys... Thanks...

there is an idle air control valve on the throttle body. check the wires

Why do you think it would change when the truck warms up though? Wouldn't that always be an issue you think? :dontknow:

Mine started doing it after I put the Volant in. After about 3 minutes of driving it goes away...However, every time I stop at a redlight or stop sign, it sort of revs a little and I can hear air whistling from the hood scoop.

Truck runs fine though and no loss of power, so I'm not worried. As soon as I get around to it, I am going to get a flashed PCM. Maybe that will stop it.
