low octane fuel

VENOMOUS1 put a 93 octane tune on my truck. I went to Odessa (home of big oil) and could not find any fuel but 91 octane and not a few just sold only90. What’s the deal? :dontknow: On my return trip of 400 miles I could not tell a difference but then I was just cruising with a few spirited passes, nothing that would need top performance. You guys seeing this elsewhere?

yeah i dont understand that when i was in tx i could only find 1 station that had the 93 octane i just put on a lower tune while i was unable to get the 93 octane otherwise you risk the possibility of detonation.

He's just saying out West in the desert there's only 91 or so. Normally most of Texas you can find 93. Being the tunes aren't near aggressive 91 is just fine with no risks. You just don't go putting 87 in there or even 89 for that matter.
