The past 2 oil changes i have used 7 quarts mobil 1 0W40 and 2 quarts Lucas full synthetic. As ive burned another 3000 miles, and $1350 in fuel, I was wondering if anyone is forking out the extra $30 bucks for the additives.

Also would it be safe to push it to 4k or 5k miles.

someone lost a motor a while back with additives in there if im not mistaken. something about it foaming. i would stay away from that if i were you. just my opinion. either run royal purple or mobil 1 only.

I use 1 qt with mobil1 or rp oil change and I like it. Don't hear the lifter tap as much. I will keep using it and driving it hard.

Hey guys,
I was just going to ask everyone here what they suggest for oil and or additives. My engine is pretty noisy as well. People ask what's wrong with my motor.:dontknow: My oil filler cap says 0-40 . Is that what I should use? I appreciate any advice you guys can offer.

Personally, I would listen to the noise and not use any additives of any kind in the oil. We have been told by some pretty intelligent people not to use additives in our engines.

i pull oil samples. can do 5k safely with room to spare. 7,500 would be no prob if needed.
been told that i drive "aggressive" lol

I never use additives and in 37 yrs have yet to have a engine failure...I have had several vehicles that I put 100K+ miles on........and the factory doesnt advise 0/40 just to see how many engines will fail....manufactures want their engines to last for bragging rights...

its been 8k miles since my last oil change...to bad for the truck, it just gets abused, my friend is driving it this week

How come they changed from 04? (10-30)

I would stay away from the additives. The engine noise is normal.

95k miles Flchub!!!! Wow dude............thats a shitload of miles!!! In four years I only have 12,400.

OK GUYS...I HEAR YA. I AM GOING TO USE ROYLE PURPLE 0-40. NOW ALL I NEED TO DO IS PICK THE BEST FILTER.THANKS ALOT FOR ALL THE GREAT ADVICE.THIS FORUM ROCKS!!!

the white Viper filter is supposed to be the best for our engines

Yes the Mopar filter is the way to go...just make sure the filter your dealer installs is not only white in color but has "VIPER" on it...the one without VIPER is not the updated filter....it will work but is an older design and may cause noise..

engine additives is jsut that an additive. with modern day oils, you dont need additives.

it just thickens the oil to a degree where it could make it hard for the oil to go thru the sytem at high rpms;)

with my oil feeds on the turbos, I cant use much more than a 10w40, I will actually loose oil pressure at high rpms with anything thicker, hence the well thought addition of a mechanical guage;)
