is there a way to make the cooling fan run even when the key is off, i know i could put a switch in and do it that way but i'd rather have some sort of thermostat that would run untill a a preset temp. i know hayden fans makes a t stat and relay kit i guess i could just add to the truck but wanted to make sure the ecm couldn't do it, i think that would be better. and i don't like the way the hayden kit just sits in the rad. i'd like somethin using the coolant temp, any ideas?

I have an additional electric fan that goes on/off at a temp with the engine off. Bought the kit from Boomer. Wanted to somewhat cool the engine with the engine off at the track. Does not circulate the coolant however.

No. Our fans are hydrostatic/hydraulic. As is driven by the power steering pump.

The only way to get a fan to run with engine off is to install an electric one with a controller unit.

ok, i thought we had electric fans, bone how does your fan kit read temp? in the rad or in a collant passage?

You adjust it (screwdriver) with a dial. The temp probe you attach to the radiator. So I set mine to go off about 150-155 F as I recall. I jsut watched the temp rise and when the temp reached my desired temp, I had it turn on. It is pretty simple. Don't need to be a mechanic to install it. Boomer's kit can control two fans too.

You can also either push or pull the air as desired.

I don't know if Boomer is still a vendor, but if you call him just ask for a Viper Fan kit. I think there is are two versions of the fan (amount of airflow). I took the larger one. I don't remember the flow rate. The tough part is pushing air through 3 sets of cooling fins on our trucks. I still have the stock hydraulic fan running too.

Many of the Hemi guys are taking out their hyd fans and putting in electric fans to save a few ponies. Their kits may just fit ours too. I never really thought to ask.
