This rubber boot is in the reservoir looks like no holes so no fluid gets though, I took it out and filled it up and seems to be working fine. Any advise or intel?

That rubber boot should be collapsed and sits ontop of the fluid so that it becomes a barrier so air won't get into the system. As the system leaks that rubber boot expands with the oil and once all the oil leaks out it seals the system so you can just remove the rubber, add oil, then replace the rubber. Now the rubber may have to be replaced once it has been stretched. Or run without it until you fix your leak.
