Took my valve covers off last week and took them to a local reputable shop. Got a call yesterday morning from the owner saying that they're done, but he wasn't sure if I would like them. He actually said he didn't, but that he didn't know what I was expecting.................long silence on the phone.........................................................................................................."Well", I responded, "If you don't like them, I can absolutely guarantee you that I won't like them; I have a tendancy to be a little particular." So I'm going to look at them this morning, knowing that I am more than likely going to just send them to Justin to redo.

Lesson here, don't take chances because of convenience. I didn't want to wait for ship time, and I'm probably paying the price now, which means the truck will be down for another 1-2 weeks. Should have just gone with JMB in the first place.

Well Keep us on the Up and Up! Hope it dont cost ya too much!:(

Damn Ron, sorry to hear that :(

Can you get a new set from Justin and float the core cost for a few weeks to reduce the down time ? :dontknow:

Hey Ron, Take some pics of what the guy did for you so we can see even if you don't like them. What could be so bad? You didn't have them painted pink did you?:D

I already have them boxed up and will be going next day air this morning. In all fairness, the guy had never done a set of these before, so I guess it was trial and error. He was ready and willing to do whatever it took to make me happy, but I didn't want to take the chance , so off to Justin they go.

They were simply powder coated red with silver letters. The problem was that he tried to tape the letters off and the tape residue was not completed removed, so the silver powdercoat did not stick completely. Also, he did not clear them; he said it wouldn't hold up. Justin says otherwise.

Sooo, I'm going to have Justin do them in crinkle red and have the letters polished. Mutt's crinkle black looks sweet, and the red should as well.

Live and learn.

Ron

I thought maybe you might go silver (body color) but then the "Viper" wouldn't stand out very well. I'm glad your still going red. Keeps with the viper engine/brake package.

Well, I feel a whole lot better about the situation. Justin returned my call just as soon as he got in this morning, and we got everything straightened out. Covers are at the UPS store and Justin should have them Monday. Now I just have to wait..........................................................................

Another reason for using Justin; he e-mailed me today and let me know that the previous powder coating company that did the work failed to remove the baffels inside the valve cover. As a result, the foam backing was covered with sand blasting media. Can you imagine what would have happened if I would have put the covers back on the truck with all that sand?!! He just saved me about $15,000!

Quick, go buy a lottery ticket. Your luck is running hot.

What a turn of events yours and Charles' truck is down and Stinkers is up and runing. Im knocking on wood for you Dave! :D

Yep, with the valve covers off, and the truck on stands, my truck is still faster than Stinker's.:D

Thanks for the good thoughts Dom. The only thing I've been doing to my truck is puttin' gas in it, puttin' gas in it, puttin' gas in it. So the risk is minimal.

Uh, Ron......Have you heard the latest on Stinky's truck. It's all tuned up and laying down over 1000 rwhp. He's promised to let me know when he's going to run it so I can video it. Be afraid......be very afraid.
