its 264hp at the wheels, and its 2589lbs with him in it, but he put 3.90 gears in it and i think it's too much gear, he had 3.54 gears before and ran a 12.35@112mph on street tires. then the 3.54 rear blew up and the 3.90 is all he had. we got a welded up 3.54 to put in it and try out but he wants to see what it does at the track with the 3.90's. he'll prob kill me at the track where he can hook up and i won't have enough room to catch himSilvrSRT10 said:What kind of HP is he getting out his 350? His HP to weight ratio should be better than our trucks. Even if he's only got 250hp his car only weighs about 2500lbs.:hmmmm2:

There were two rear ends available in those "Z" cars. The R180 and the R200. The R200 is the stronger of the two. It was found in the 2+2 cars and the 280 version. If he doesn't already know this and have one installed that's what he needs to look for. If he's breaking the R200 he needs to convert to a straight axle or fashion mounts for a Jag or Corvette rear end.ARRESTmeRed04 said:its 264hp at the wheels, and its 2589lbs with him in it, but he put 3.90 gears in it and i think it's too much gear, he had 3.54 gears before and ran a 12.35@112mph on street tires. then the 3.54 rear blew up and the 3.90 is all he had. we got a welded up 3.54 to put in it and try out but he wants to see what it does at the track with the 3.90's. he'll prob kill me at the track where he can hook up and i won't have enough room to catch him
yeah it's the R200 the problem he was having with the 3.54's was a roll pin coming out that held in the spider gear shaft, so it'd slide out a little but and just eat up the rear end. never broke a ring gear or anything like that. we're not sure why it did it but the 3.90's don't seem to do it. the nex good 3.54 he gets we are gonna either tack weld the roll pin, or take it out ans drill and tap the hole to use a bolt there. he has the Jags that Run kitSilvrSRT10 said:There were two rear ends available in those "Z" cars. I've wanted to build a Scarab for forever. I have the car, the engine, the trans. I've just outgrown the car. Maybe some day I'll really custom it and extend the foot well or move the seat further back so I can pack myself in.
No but I know where you live, wa-ha-ha! Just BSn ya man. I'll PM ya when I get to head that way sometime.ARRESTmeRed04 said:you got my number?
That's the book I bought too. Have the Hooker headers and engine mounts specifically made for the conversion. Maybe it's time to get the cuttin' torch out and custom fit it to me.ARRESTmeRed04 said:He has the Jags that Run kit
what car do you have, you could use a 2+2 car, would be a lot easyer to move the seat backSilvrSRT10 said:That's the book I bought too. Have the Hooker headers and engine mounts specifically made for the conversion. Maybe it's time to get the cuttin' torch out and custom fit it to me.
