Metallic Bang in Drive Train..

On my trip back from vacation I noticed a metal sounding bang in the drivetrain, this occurred while rolling, when I would accelerate and decelerate..

Any ideas what this could be.. sounds like it coming from the rearend..

I had this happen on another truck of mine.. but it was a 5 speed.. it turned out to be a out of alignment pinion/ringgear that had become worn...

Could be as simple as your spare tire is loose. Happened to somebody else here once.

Check you exhaust, probably hitting something.

Wasn't it BOOMER who said these trucks have a certain amount of drivetrain slop when he was explaining the 'clunk' many of us have when we first start moving? IIRC, he said that noise was coming from around the tailshift of the transmission.

I have this noise, and it does annoy me.
