Mexico

It's a foregone conclusion that the US will have to prop up Mexico at some point. Hell, there is no incentive for Mexico to not let that happen. If I were the President of Mexico, I would probably accelerate the situation and get the US involved right away. The screwed up part of the whole deal is that we will spend Billions and get nothing in return as we always do. Just like the Kuwait deal. We go in and protect them and rack up massive debt in the process with only a fraction of what we spent in return. The US is the rich guy that pisses money away on anyone that needs it and asks for little or nothing in return. When are we going to wake up and quit helping these countries without billing them for it?

What's sad is Uncle Sam is that rich guy that's been helping others for so long now that if he were to suddenly stop and look after himself for a change, he'll be perceived as the bad guy.. Even MORE than he already is..

Why should we care how other countries percieve us? Because like it has been stated here many times we have enough problems of our own to worry about others.. just my .02:dontknow:
No matter how they see us we still have the bombs.Dennis Leary:D

hell, they dont even cover the mexican army intrusions into the usa running as decoys for drug smugglers. drugs and drug money are what is running mexico right now.............

Always has been,( one of the justifications needed for the war on drugs kinda like Iran Contra Drugs For Guns scheme, bunch of liars) The USA has let Mexico default on loans for years just to them loan more.
Ya know if drugs were legalized hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Yup, the war on drugs has turned into a shooting war, imagine that. I was just talking about this a couple of days ago on the Gaza thread. A lot of people won't even go into Mexico these days. It's a damn shame too, cause I love Mexico.

But something to think about is the importance of Mexico to the US. Based solely on geography what happens in Mexico is infinitely important to us.

Yes indeed, for what happens in Mexico justifies the loss (or will) of many of our civil rights and the passage of more and more restrictive laws based on the so called War on Drugs. Make no mistake the powers to be are promoting this from behind the scene.

Doesn't suprise me too much. I was in Mexico over the holidays and was harrassed by the local cops. In the US, the drug wars and immigration problems will substantially diminish our standard of living. :argh:

You are lucky to be back, more people have been killed in Mexico in the last 12 months than our total troop losses in Afghanistan and Iraq combined.

We are entirely tied to Mexico. They are not just a neighboring country. We are literally attached to them geographically. Any disease that begins in Mexico can easily spread across the border and infect us. Mexico is one big criminal enterprise. There is no true law in Mexico because the officials are the criminals or employed by the criminals. The Police Officers commit the petty crimes. Mexico is just out of control and eventually the whole country will implode. Evil outweighs Good in Mexico.

I spent the first 17 years of my life in a border town. I grew up on a bar stool in Mexico. Back then, the police would basically rob us by threatening to take us to jail if we did not empty our pockets. Of course they would give us everything back except the cash. One night we didn't have but $15 between 5 of us and the cops were pissed so they took the license plates off our car and drove away. We were screwed because you can't drive back across the border in a car with no plates so we sat there freaking out for about 10 minutes when the cops drove by and threw the plates out the window. I was only 16 years old at that time but we had been partying in Mexico since I was 14. Those were crazy times.

Know of what you speak, got thrown into the TJ jail in the mid 60's. Just glad I was not one of the 3 young girls they arrested that night. The dirtballs shot them full of Heroin then after a couple of days lined up for the train a couple of times a day. It was sickening:mad:

I got to say, I've never been messed with by the cops in Mexico. Though I did find myself in jail in Panama for a weekend. The "fine" turned out to be exactly what I had, once my watch was thrown in on the deal heheheh.

Ahhh, the good old days LOL.

The thing to keep in mind though, is that isn't a Mexican trait, it's pretty much the rule all around the world, with just us and few others being the exception.

I think Mexico is pretty tame compared with many other Countries. The reason Mexico is an issue for the USA is the shared border and close proximity. I personally would not be afraid to travel in Mexico but I don't think I would risk taking the family. It's a shame because some of the most beautiful beaches in the world are in Mexico and the prices are rock bottom. Best vacation for the money! Just not worth the risk.

Exactly. Bums me out, cause I've long hoped to someday retire there.

When Cancun was just a huge sand bar ( Yucatan Peninsula) it was truly awesome, and the Myan people, well just the best friends a person could have. To bad it is just an over built tourista trap now.Damn I loved that place.

I am willing to bet that I am the only person alive to have been jailed in every country I have ever visited as well as every state I have lived in at some point :D  Only exception so far is Arizona and that may be coming since I am refusing to pay my speeding ticket issued via photo radar :D :D

I'm not a fan of jail myself. I have never been on the inside yet and don't plan on it. They won't take me alive!

Hey Mikey, is Jail where you acquired you're taste for man sausage?

No man meat for me buddy...But I learned how to play chess from a mass murderer named Baccus....After I summarily punched the Sheriff in the face and broke his nose and lost my job as a Deputy I was placed in his cell...He was a state inmate being held on transfer...The Sheriff thought it would be cute to house me in the same cell with him to teach me a lesson. I was the only Jailer he never messed with and I never dicked him around either...It was peachy :marchmellow: All the time I have served has been due to fights....Go figure ehh :D

I've never been to jail other than working in them.. I damn sure am not looking forward to being incarcerated in another country.. That scares me about Angola.. While there I plan to stay on base the entire time.. Lord knows what I'd have to deal with if I were locked up abroad in a place like that.. If I had to come here and tell such a story of being raped like an ape with a Malaria laden meat log.. Mikey would laugh, Borden would laugh, pretty much everyone will laugh while I die a little inside..:(
