Hey, after much thought i've come to a decision that i really do want to
install the B&B long tubes and there catless mid pipes... now some people were
telling me to goto a muffler shop and have them get the fittings straight etc etc..
if all i have are the catless mid pipes i don't think there going to install them..
now i have the magnaflow exhaust and apparently the inlet is 2 1/2" but
farther back it becomes three inches... i'm pretty sure it can't be that hard
to install but i would like to get a welder to pratice on some stuff before i
do the "big show"... so what i ask of you today is. What type of welder should
i get? i would like one that has self feeding wire as that's probly the easiest..
if you need me to clarify just say so :D

Thanks,

Sharpi

You're talking about a MIG machine. That will work and you can pick it up pretty easy. the best way to go would be a tig machine, either way you will need a bottle of maping gas(argon). The tig will let you be much neater, and may be cheaper, but Im not sure. You can buy stainless rod for both, so really either would work, Im just partial to the TIG.

TIG is the only way to go. However, good units will set you back 2K. Frankly, if you are not going to be doing much welding in the future you can pick up an inexpensive MIG for a few hundred dollars.

I have welded for many years and for Tiging I have somebody better than me do the job. Any good TIG welder is going to cost over 1K not including the gas regulator, or bottle for the gas.

A wire welder is much easier to use. Welding exhaust tubing is not as easy as it looks. The choice in welders is infinate. I have a HTH wire welder and it works well.

I really would just find a good shop and let them hang your parts. That's what I do.

MILLER all the way man:rock: I have all miller stuff in my shop and have not had a problem yet... Use a mixed gas also 92/8 92% argon 8% carbon dioxide it will give you the best welds:rock: We have used that mix for about 7 years and it works great...

Sharpi, i have a buzines in welding... don't go buying a welder if you're not planning making a roller coaster after your mids.... :D

I don't know you but don't underestimate welding...it's something like making music , you have it or not. Ok, you can "glue" the parts together but have sleepness nights on how that ugly, fugly welding looks under your truck....Remember those are thin tubes , not so easy to weld. ( Easyer to burn holes in it ... )
If i were near you , i let it do by a welder of my personel , sorry , not possible.

I'm afraid trying it yourself you will be more grinding away shit then welding metal... :dontknow: :D ;)

PS i can't weld myself. :(

This are problems due mixing brands . Obviously everybody makes his own routing , so if i were you , i stick to one brand from headers to tips , except if they claim a part will suit to another.I had once done it on my vette ( and i have welders who can do it prof. ) but ended with a mega sound outside and inside a horrible resonance... so back to a brand.... :( :D
