got a question for you guys. jase is stationed in 29palms. his truck is titled in Alabama. He has it on base with him. question is does he have to tag it in cali? it will cost him almost a grand to tag it out there. here in Ala. it wont be but 200 to 200 bucks. just trying to save him some dough. hate to see him throw away money if he doesnt have to. he had to get a cali drivers liscense b/c his expired while he was out there.

As long as he has a residence address in another state, he can license his truck there....

That is where they'll send his registration and tags...

he still get his mail and bank statements at my house

i told him to wait until thanksgiving to get it registered while he's at home

Just keep his address at home... He'll be fine....

If he gets stopped and is questioned about it, tell them he still lives there.

I actually just went to Vegas and registered my truck again....He'll be fine...He doesn't have to register it in Cali as long as his Home of record says Alabama.....

Both the 10 and my DD are still registered in Texas. I just renew it over the phone:)
the idiots at the tag office would go into siezures if he tried to do that. its still cash and check only. no debit cards and dont even try to get them to fax something. :D

maybe you can go in for him. another thing is most military is exempt from the taxes on auto tags. i have been in ga for years and dont pay the valorum tax but my home of record is new york too. make sure he doesnt change his home of record because it will mess with his resedency and voting stuff too.

just wanted to make sure you guys know that. lol

Me 2, he has to be able to renew it over the phone. He's still a resdient there. When it comes time to vote, that's where his ballot will come from. Have him call and try... I bet it'll work.

he wont be able to pay for it over the phone. or with a credit card someone will still have to pay the taxes in person. ill call them in the morning.

He's good to go just register it for him, and when he comes home have him renew his license also (technicaly) he will be able to drive on an expired license being active duty. Is he stationed in the stumps or still in school.
