I am saving up for a Mopar CAI with the "ram air" setup. For those already using or have used (or installed it) this system, are the rivets that attach the plastic scoop assembly to the underside of the hood really 1/4 inch diameter?

John, I have the complete Install instructions in Adobe PDF file. Can email it to you shoot me an email at [email protected] and I will attach and reply.

Answer to your question is YES they are 1/4", The Instructions lists all parts with step by step pictures.... :)

Wrong....the MoPar CAI is ducted directly to the hood opening.

And it has also been proven that the ducting provides a positive pressure to the intake and Actually Increased HP at speeds above 35MPH. Other CAIs are for Bling and most actually hurt or only break even on performance and HP.

To the best of my knowledge, which is limited, the only other Proven CAI is the Volant.

I am sure others will slap me around if I am wrong :)

Thanks Chief. I found the instructions and was reading through them, waiting for the snow to begin  When I re-read them that's when I noticed the rivet diameter -- that's a pretty beefy diameter for a rivet and it looks like I'll need another rivet gun too.

Well, back outside for round two of shoveling... Did I mention I hate this $hit and it figures, I sold my 4x4 earlier this year :argh:

Read a thread almost a year ago and it mentioned that there were not enough rivets provided for what was actually needed. I would do an inventory on the rivets and small bolts/screws and make sure I had some extra (trip to Lowes/Home Depot) just to make sure I could put some where I thought they were needed.

Also the Air Duct Kit requires the light under the Hood needs to be relocated, you may use an extra rivet or two on that as well. :)

Thanks Chief. I was wondering what to do with the under hood light -- instructions just say remove it.

Also take your time installing the air duct to the hood. A huge PIA. It does not fit well. may have to do a little modification.
Love the look of the CAI  but the air duct sucks.
IMO

Is this new???? The MOPAR CAI I have doesn't duct to the hood scoop but I bought it 3 and a 1/2 years ago....is there a new one out?

They were sold two ways. Just the CAI and the CAI with Ram Air Kit. You may have just purchased the CAI. Most vendors sell the entire kit, however, I have found some that will sell individually.

do you have a link or can direct me to where you read that? and may be from 35 on up but the Vararam is more efficient than that.

When they test the CAIs it is on a Dyno.... Kind of hard to get 40mph of air pressure to go in the hood scoop on a Dyno without hooking up an Air Pressure Ducting to it.... :)

John, still trying to find a dealer for the part number... The Link I had is dead now .....

almost all cai's have been individually tested and none actualy made more than a couple hp, none have ever made 35:p
If one did make 35hp we would all be using it.:D

Tony, he is looking for the CAI only without the hood scoop option.. That number comes up with the RAM Air Scoop option...
