Come over to my house to put the stuff on...your wife will never know and my wife will think the truck things that come in here are for your truck!!! That's a win/win!

Sounds good to me!

Drop in is a waste of time unless you just want a cleanable filter, I had one and noticed no improvement. If you actually look at the rating on the stock filter -vrs- the factory, they factory is rated to flow more air.

Mopar ram air, well I have no dyno info to make prof and their is no huge SOP feal difference. But I can tell you that my best 1/4 mph with stock box was 107.16. After puuting on the Mopar Ram air the best mph was 109.67

Not hard fact dyno number I know, but that is where I would expect to see it is in the trap speed. Its pretty hard to get good dyno info on a CAI unless you happen to have it set up in a wind tunnel :D

Are you talking about the system that brings air in via the hood scoop or the CAI that devildog is picturing in his post?

My question is if the hood was up or down during the dyno?

Mopar only does the system that brings in through the hood as well as throught the grill. You use to beable to buy the sytem without the duct work that goes on the hood but now it only comes with it, you wouldn't have to put it on.

Sorry I have never done a dyno, I am going to try to this fall at Archer though just for the heck of it. But it is just my opinion that their is no way to really test a CAI for true performance increase with out having your dyno in a wind tunnel. If you have a really restrictive air intake to start with then you would see some increase on a dyno.

My post was more of a joke. There was a big fight a while back about dyno gains and if the hood was up or down.

Yea I hear ya on that one. Just like cold -vrs- hot. Way too many variables, but as long as it always the same I guess you are OK.

I have more faith in the 1/4 then the dyno, but then again their can be lots of driver error in the 1/4 also :driver:

But you guys with your auto's wouldn't know nothing about that would ya :captain:

Here is a thought, hood up in the 1/4, would the gain from ram air effect offset the aero drag.............let the debate begin...........this should be a good one.

PS. maybe the carbon fiber hood would be stronger too,,,,,LOL

Ha, that would be fun. Trying to drive down the 1/4 with the hood up.

Unless you make a couple of passes with the stock intake.....

then install a CAI....

and run again on the same day under the same conditions, its not really fair to say a CAI improved your 1/4.

Same thing can be said for dyno's...

Even then unless there is a significant consistent difference its going to be hard to prove.

There isnt consistent proof that any CAI has increased HP on a stock RAM SRT-10.

Now, I do believe a CAI could impact the air flow dynamics requireing the PCM to adjust the tune and result in some gains in hp in lower rpms.

Would be hard pressed to see an increase in rwhp or 1/4 performance on a tuned (via flash or Vec2) on an otherwise stock engine by installing a CAI.

Aftermarket CAI's are actually worse than the stock airbox in regards to pulling in cool air. Your only potential gain is increased airflow efficiency over the stock filter. Even then there is a limit due to the TB, intake, heads, cam and valve flows.

Thanks for the inputs my peeps...I have decided after talking to Boomer a little bit and doing a little exterior research to go with the MOPAR kit do to the HOTTIE factor!!!!!! (WHat I can LOOK!):) However, wouldnt my truck look BADASS doin the 1/4 w/ my hood up and that kit in there???

your drag test is/was the best testament to any mod test. good post.
we have put the mopar system on, its pricey, it looks good, and it does make more power with it.

Don't get mad at me just because you don't know how to run a dyno.

It is pricey, but then again how much did you spend on your "truck" (HYPOTHETICAL!!! and to all..)...so, I'm thinkin if I can only buy one expensive "thingy" every now and then......SOOO BEEE IIITTTT!!!!!  By the way guys, my other hot rod does like 400 mph....I"ll never tell.....:D

i was going to drive Womsterr's truck down, pick up rocketman on the way,(he said you 2 had a date) and then install some xmetal goodies on your painfully stockass truck. but now, no free goodies for you-nada-zilch.-cept for maybe a free tshirt.;)
all i wanted was helicopter lessons! you think you would back a Marine up since we cover you navy guys all the time!
