Will this pcm be a good starting point on a truck with stock manifolds, no cats and magnaflow cat back. I do not have the cam or the headers. The dealer wants 315. I think this is what you guys call the stage 2.
I also hear you talking about the sct tuner. If i get the tuner can i use it on the stock computer and get similar or better results than the stage 2?

Plug in for the SRT10, Fuel and Spark are adjusted for use with the required performance camshaft (4510171) and exhaust headers (5153168) not recommended for SRT10 Quad cab

P5153591 Engine Controller (2006 SRT10 Ram 1500) 359.00
4510918 2004 Ram SRT10 Standard Trans 369.00
5153335 2005 Ram SRT10 259.95

The Mopar PCM is not the stage 2 a lot of members here have....you should go with the SCT tuner...you can download a number of different flashes into your PCM..

I agree with TNVIPER Go with the SCT tuner....I am going to go with it when the time comes...

yep. what they said. :burnout:
p.s. is it wrong to have a cartoon gal to catch one's eye ??????:dontknow: :elefant: :dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow:

Layman terms:

You can either have someone flash (Reprogram your PCM) or do it with a SCT. The PCM flash might be cheaper from the dealer but it is a one size fits all mod. The SCT can be updated after the initial program via email and such with some dyno sheets. The PCM flash can also be changed, but you will have to get your PCM to someone who can flash it and change the timing to what you need. I doubt a dealer will do that for you.

Mopar PCM, Stage 2 flash and SCT all do the same thing. The difference is in the timing and other little small issues (Cooling fan temp, etc). The best bang for the buck right now is the SCT. I have had a stage 1 flash, stage 2 flash, blower flash, VEC3 and now I'm going with the SCT.

So the dealer can sell me a pcm for $300, i can by a SCT for $800 or have the dealer flash the one i have for ($ )?

the SCT tuners are priced between $600-700 BUT you will only have to buy it OUNCE! You won't have any down time with the SCT tuner (no PCM in your truck makes it tough to drive while you wait to ship and have it returned,if you don't lose it in the mailing process!) And the SCT can easily have the tunes changed after you do some different mods to keep your truck running at its best! HANDS DOWN SCT Tuner!

but dont you have to pay 250 for each additional program?
And what were they saying the dealer could flash the one i have?

Here is the deal Jeff. The mopar pcm is a hot rod tune but not as aggresive as the stage two. With an SCT controller you can actually have 3 tunes stored on it. You can then plug it into your truck diagnostic port and download any of your new tunes to your truck. Those three tunes can be whatever you want, such as one stock, one stage two, and one mystery tune..............point is, you get flexibility with the sct tuner. All this is done without having to change out your pcm since your using the port.

The mopar pcm is a seperate unit with the tune and the stage two flash is actually flashed onto your stock pcm(you mail it to the tuner) or you purchase a new pcm with the flash on it.

Hope that helps. And .............get the sct, its the best option so far.

The dealer could flash over your stage two flash and you could lose your flash, this is why having the sct controler is such a nice option. This is why many of us purchased a seperate pcm with the stage two flash and kept the stock pcm for dealer visits. Change em out and the dealer cant wipe away your hot rod tune.

Ounce you buy the SCT Tuner you get 3 tunes in it ,You decide what kind of tunes(many options here!)
And for $250 for each additional tune!! N O!! you just talk to the tuner you got it from decide on what changes you need,he e-mails you the tune, you plug your hand held SCT tuner unit into PC or laptop, download it in and then go put into your truck,DONE! There may be small fees for additional tunes but I am sure they will not be very expensive,I would guess free or really reasonably cheap!
