Moving to Alameda/Stockton Area

Looking for a place starting the first if August anywhere from Alameda east to Stockton. I've been checking out Tracy, Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore and every town I can find on the map.
If anyone lives up there and can recommend a place or know of someone renting property/private room I'd appreciate it.
About me: 28 male student moving from Brooklyn so I won't be bringing any furniture, just clothes and books. Looking to pay up to $700/mth.

I am from Alameda, I spent the 4th on the USS Hornet at the old Alameda Base. It's still a great place to live, great car show on Park street every October, but I don't think $700.00 per month will get you anything.
