Ok, I know that this forum is filled with the biggest group of caring, helping people that I have ever encountered, and I mean that with all sincerity!

When it comes to selfless, random acts of kindness you all absolutely ROCK!!!:rock:

I want to do something special for my Mom and I would like to ask for whatever help any of you care to give.

My Mom has been battling Multiple Sclerosis for over 20 years now, and every year gets a little worse, but she is fighting! Her memory sux, her balance is horrible, and she can't stop her legs from wiggling. (She really looks like a toddler who has to pee.)

Anyway, there is an Annual MS Society Bike Ride fund raiser that will be held in just a couple of weeks. Actually, there are two rides:

Breakaway to the Beach September 15-16, 2007
Savannah River Ride October 20-21, 2007

This year for the first time, my Mom has a Champion riding in her name!! This man does not know her, and may never meet her, he doesn't have MS, nor does anyone in his family, but still he cares enough to help raise money.

I would like to try to help put him on the list of the top fund raisers in honor of what he is doing for my Mom! And that is where all of you come in!

I would like to ask you to donate whatever you can spare in John's name and when you do, put VTCOA at the end of your name, even if you donate anonymously.
Here is the page, and under the meter is a link for donations.

You can see my Mom's name (Barbara Kimsey) on the list as a donator as well.

C'mon guys and gals! We can help make a difference in MANY lives!!!

Thanks in advance for any donations!!!

Humbly,

Scott

Well, you know me. I'm in.

I'm hoping to get a day off sometime next week and will sign up.

Thoughts and prayers are with your mother. She must be a strong woman.

Give her a nice hug from the furry one.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate it, and so does Mom! She got very excited about this when I told her.

She is doing well right now Steve, thanks for asking.

MS is a very strange disease, and there are several basic types. There is no none cause or cure. But there are some medicines that seem to help slow down the exacerbations, or at least make the symptoms easier to deal with.

My Mom has what they call Relapsing-remitting exacerbations. ([FONT=Verdana,Arial,Helvetica][SIZE=-1]RRMS is characterised by relapses (also known as exacerbations) during which time new symptoms can appear and old ones resurface or worsen. The relapses are followed by periods of remission, during which time the person fully or partially recovers from the deficits acquired during the relapse.) The worst symptom that Mom has gotten, that won't go away, is pain and constant twitching of her leg muscles. She takes some heavy pain-killers to help, and at one time during a particularly nasty exacerbation, all the meds she was taking threw her into deep depression and she tried to take the easy way out. That was a tough period for our family, but we have moved on, and she is on completely different meds now, with little obvious side effects.
Right now, she sounds and feels better than she has in a couple of years, which is good, and we are all hoping that this remission lasts a very long time. But, who knows, she could (literally) wake up tomorrow and have a whole new litany of problems.

If you want to learn more here is a good link that describes the terms associated with MS:

Thanks again everybody!!!
