Ok... I guess you are a metalurgist and know All stainless will rust no matter what grade it is? LOL:marchmellow:

The weld on the muffler wasn't the only thing that failed.

PICKUPS PLUS- Hilliard, OH = FAIL

- At the original time of purchase, their shop also did the installation. They modified and welded the rear section of pipe (NOT THE MUFFLER) so that it would properly exit at the required exit point on RumbleBee model trucks.

- They DID NOT inform Keith that any modification to the system would void the Magnaflow warranty.

- They DID NOT supply Keith with the owners manual or warranty registration card (Keith watched both of those items remain in the original shipping box and get thrown in the dumpster).

- On a daily driver, removal of an entire exhaust system without a replacement available is not an option and was explained to both the dealer and Magnaflow.
The dealer offered Keith a replacement system AT COST while his warranty claim was being processed. No. I'm not kidding.

- When this claim came to light, the manager of the Pickups Plus store decided that it would be okay for him to speak for Magnaflow. BEFORE contacting Magnaflow in any way, he stated that Magnaflow would refuse the claim. Oops.

MAGNAFLOW - Rancho Santa Margarita, CA = FAIL

The "Lifetime Warranty" directly from the Magnaflow site as of 11.8.07:

"Lifetime Warranty
The manufacturer warrants that all Magnaflow Performance products are free from defects. Most of our mufflers* are warranted against blowouts and defects in material and workmanship for as long as the original purchaser owns the vehicle on which it was originally installed. The warranty is void if the muffler is not installed properly on the vehicle for which it is designed.

This warranty does not apply to any muffler which has been installed on any commercial or racing vehicle or which has been improperly installed, altered, or subjected to misuse or damage from accidents. Also, cost of labor and any additional parts required to complete installation of a replacement muffler are not covered by this warranty.

The warranty certificate, along with proof of purchase, MUST be presented to the service outlet from which you originally purchased the muffler, or any participating dealer, when making a claim for replacement. The original muffler must also be returned and exchanged for a new muffler of the same part number.

No other warranty, expressed or implied (including merchantability), applies to the mufflers, nor is any person or the manufacturer authorized to assume any other warranty. The manufacturer does not assume any responsibility for any consequential damages occasioned by the muffler, or inconvenience or interruption in any operation.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.

*MagnaFlow's XL Series muffler/exhaust, catalytic converter, and titanium exhaust line carries a limited warranty
."

- If you're an attorney and reading this, just settle down and take your Ritalin. It will be alright. We know it's more vague than a presidential campaign speech, but hopefully it will be updated and corrected.
That 'warranty' is so wide open- on BOTH sides- it's amazing.

- Also note that when printed out, the paragraph starting with "The warranty", has a different font size. This tells me that it was added to the main document at a later date.

-Their dealer network is a disaster. Some of their dealers work directly with the company; the others deal with a distribution warehouse.

- If you have a warranty claim, you MUST go back to the dealer where it was purchased and start the claim process there. Magnaflow DOES NOT deal directly with customers. At all.

-In this case, the muffler (and entire exhaust system) must be sent from the dealer to the distribution warehouse. There they will examine it and decide whether or not to send it on to Magnaflow for further inspection, and whether or not to honor any warranty claim.

- On a daily driver, removal of an entire exhaust system without a replacement available is not an option and was explained to both the dealer and Magnaflow.

- Keith visited another Magnaflow dealer in the area. While that shop was much nicer to him, they explained that the exhaust would have to go back to the original point of purchase for any warranty claim....because they also go through the distribution warehouse.

- Keith visited a Magnaflow dealer that does deal directly with Magnaflow and received much the same: while they deal with Magnaflow directly, since he didn't purchase it there (JEG'S) wouldn't be able to do anything for him.

With the original weld failure, and these two new ones, both Pickups Plus and Magnaflow have lost a customer.

If any Magnaflow dealer wants to step up and take care of Keith's claim via their dealership, you can contact he or I.

I'm working on scheduling him in with my custom welding shop so that the failed weld can be taken care of (and guaranteed not to split again). Yes- that will *really* void the warranty, but.....there wasn't *really* a warranty to begin with.

It's a shame that it came to this, but Keith gave everyone on the list a chance. Some he gave several chances. No one could resolve the situation.
So here we are.

Updates as they become available.
