Aside from performance you can get a GTO to look REALLY nice. I saw a charcoal gey one the other night with black wheels/chrome lip. It was lowered some and had a real deep mean sound. That thing was N A S T Y...

THEWELSHM said:You are correct Dan, if you scroll thousands of posts on this site, you will see most members have referenced the British as " Brits" The Australians as " Aussie" which I also did in this thread. The Canadians as " Canooks" and of Course the Japanese as " Japs" and Germans as Kraughts". What that is is a slang way of conversing through a keyboard and taking a short cut in the same sense of an acronym.
Granted when I first joined this site I made a joke about the presidents gardner being fired over requesting a couple of 100 year old gardening implements, that should have been posted in the " Offensive" catergory. I may be a dickheadbut I am definately not a racist or a bigot. Now most have a prejudice Me included as does Silver:marchmellow: But we also have freedom of speech! I started this thread because My 22 year old bought a good deal with $ that he made from the sale of his previous vehicles. I am proud that he does not utilize credit, in lieu of hard work.
Dan thanks for seeing my posts for what they are/were.:congrats:

Silverback said:Paul, I think the difference is that the Japanese do not refer to themselves as "Japs", nor do the Germans refer to themselves are "Kraughts". The British and Austrailian people do refer to themselves are Brits and Aussies.
If you watch any war movie you will see/hear the terms "Japs" and "Kraughts" used in negative contexts. In fact I cannot think of a single time that I have heard those terms used in a positve context.
I grew up in a home where both my father and older (and only) brother were pretty racist. I hated it from the time I was old enough to know better. In fact, I had to tell both of them at times that their jokes were not welcome in my house, and especially in front of my daughter. Thank god I was able to not follow in their footsteps.
And if I had seen the thread where the term "Kraughts" was used, I would have made a statement on that thread.
So in closing, yes, maybe I am a little sensitive about this. I hope you are being truthful in that you are not a racist or bigot, and it's all just a misunderstanding.
Congratulations to your son on his GTO.
