NA Meth Injection Update

meth does not = more power. meth is a bandaid solution for people who don't run race gas after installing superchargers on high compression motors. meth burns at a different a/f ratio than gas, so it's impossible to tune perfectly. (10:1 meth a/f ratio is extremely lean)

meth by itself does not add any power. all it does is flood the engine with extra fuel which helps stave off detonation.

if you run ONLY meth, you can see power gains simply because the a/f ratio is so much lower you can inject more fuel vs gasoline which will make more power.

I used to run meth in my car about 5 years ago, and it made about 30% more power than it did on gasoline. but dumping meth into an engine that's already running at the correct a/f ratio is pretty useless.

hope this helps!

Wow, my PBJ dyno shows a gain from 667 rwhp to 702 rwhp from meth injection on my supercharged truck.

Roe Racing has an adjustable unit available.....As Prof said the Meth itself will not increase power but the cooling effect under the right conditions may increase power under those conditions (i.e. Hot weather)...the meth allows more aggressive use of power adders resulting in more power from the adders...More boost, increased timing, more compression, etc..

Not surprising. Very different from response on an NA engine. Under boost, there are significant benefits to be had from water/meth injection. NA, you could get away with either a little more timing or lower grade fuel from the detonation-reducing effect, as mentioned. Not much else, unless you raised your compression ratio a bit.

With meth I can run a more aggressive tune for 93 pump gas, that's what I want. I want to run in "kill mode" all the time, not just when I feel like plunking down $7.25/gallon for 100 octane. With the SCT, I can have a more aggressive tune that compliments using meth. I know the difference is subtle, but its noticeable.
Been using meth for a long time on in my GN motor, very familliar with the results on a boosted motor.

If the meth pump fails your motor will be toast. Its good to have a program to have it activated and not activated.

very true on a forced induction motor.

Yep,

I now have a on and off switch in the cab!!

Mike is an expert in this area IMO, listen closely to his words.

I also had a motorcycle (Harley Sportster) that ran on straight meth...the benefits:

Blue flames at night out the straight pipes...:D
Incredibly clean motor...when we worked on it...no black soot...:)
Great staccato sound...
Very quick (but my pistons kept loosing their skirts over 4600 rpm):dontknow:

Down sides:

Expensive fuel...:(
About five miles to the gallon (on a motorcycle):(
Had to use a 1/8 drill bit to get the carb jets big enough to feed sufficient meth into the engine.
When it would backfire through the S&S carb...it would start a fire...that was invisible...you would just feel the heat and start rolling on the ground to put the clear flames out:eek:

I bet that was a sight to see hahahaha:burnout:

The fire was always on my right thigh...up high...so I did not care how it looked...the heat had my full attention immediately.
