This is a group at Disney World Epcot that I've seen but I have no idea what instrument this guy is playing and haven't found anything on the internet like it. Do any of you musicians know what the heck it is? TIA

I thought I had seen them all. I have no clue about this one, but my brother-in-law is a musician in a rock band and teaches. I might need to forward this one to him and see what he says about it.

It is obviously electric in nature and I did a ton of google searches on odd electric instruments and nothing:confused:

I hate being stumped.

It looks to me like an over the shoulder (synth type) drum machine ...

If you've ever seen Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, his drummer uses a similar apparatus..... I do agree that it's very possibly a "one off" instrument... That's hard to say....

That's my best guess.....

I think your close. Here is a really bad Youtube video of them I found. You may get an idea on how it's being played. I'm going back to Disney in January and I'm making it a mission to talk to him and find out what it is. You all may be right in that it's a one-of-a-kind.

You're going Dinney Land to watch some dude play the skin flute?!

(I shouldn't have said this to somone double my height) :D

I went to high school with Victor Wooten (bass player) back in VA. He was amazing back then. Had a band with his brothers........The Wooten Brothers. They were awesome.

I was thinking the same thing, must be some sort of drum trigger. Sorry for the smartass comment Silvr.

Oops, your right. Forgot somethin'. It's a really bad vid. It starts out in doubletime but further in slows down some. You might be able to make out how he's playing it.

Disney doesn't allow any skynflute playing. At least not out "on stage".

Where are they located at Epcot? .... Maybe that will help.... :dontknow: It just looks like a 1-off keyboard or synth. to me.

When I was there and saw them they were just off the pathway leading over to the Kraft pavilion (Soarin'). I think that's where the video shows them as well. In any event, hopefully I'll catch them in January.

Wow!, Thought all the musicians on here would have nailed this one by now. It must be a one-of-a-kind. Here's one for you drummers.

From watching the video:
- there is already a keyboard, so it's probably not that.
- There is a guitar, not that.
- From the way he is playing it, it is most likely a drum and synth instrument. If you watch closely through part of the video, you can see him tapping two or three fingers on the pads, and you can hear a drum beat that matches that rythm.

That's my guess....But I certainly am not a musician. (But, I do play Guitar Hero II:D:D:D)

In all liklihood, this is a one-off midi controller. Each of the buttons could trigger a sound sample or sequence, so it is whatever instrument (and played as whatever instrument) they want it to be.
