As most of you know my son is in the Marine Corps. His permanent duty station is in Twentynine Palms,Ca. I need to send his vehicle to him and was planning on putting it in the back of one of our rigs and taking it to him. Does anyone know of a place with a loading dock i could borry to unload a small vehicle. near Banning California or within 3 or 4 hours of there. I could put it on a car carrier but this would be my cheapest route. basically free since our trucks hit Cali. every day. Any help would be greatly appreceated.

There should be one on post... at the railhead.
i asked him to check. problem is i dont know if they will let my truck on base. it will be loaded going to L.A. and im sure they would be sceptical about letting a loaded 53 foot trailer on a military base. if i could find a place close by to unload it would be alot easier to pull off. i know when we went to his graduation security was pretty tight.

I've had mine delievered and picked up on post, but things might be different:dontknow:. Getting on post should be easy... get a temp pass, and they'll probably want to inspect it. No big deal. Figuring out who you need to talk to about using the loading dock is the question.

Off post... I don't know.

Damn, I just looked at a map... didn't know it was that close to me. I'll see what I can find. When are you planning on doing this?

OK Barstow isn't far away from Twentynine Palms. I'll check this weekend, and let you know.

bwahahahaha. Yeah, it gets hot out at the stumps. Gets cold there come winter too.

Don't know if this will help. but a Yellow Frieght terminal is in Lynwood Ca. outside of Barstow on the 15 and Roadway express is in Adalanto Ca. not far from the 15 off 395. ( we are about 15 miles from either one.
Darn if I had a tractor I could move a jump from the mx track in the yard to make a dock ^$*&##$%

buddy also told me a roll back could be used to get it off the trailer. that would be easier and probably only cost 50 or 100 bucks. wouldnt take 20 minutes to unload it.

Are you refering to a flat bed tow truck :dontknow: If so you could unload it here in Hesperia Ca. 7 miles west of the 15 and 3 miles west of 395.

thats what im talking about. it needs to have a tow dolley on the back. what they would have to do is lift the bed up with the rear dolley and back the pickup onto the bed then pull my big rig up and then you could unload the pick up.

We were thinking about backing it up to the lift of a local shop here and rolling it onto the lift. My buddy was checking on the doors of the shop to make sure it would work.

Damn Eddie, I'm having no luck finding a dock. Never thought it would be so tough. I've asked about everybody I know. I'll let you know if I hear any good news.
