Need a new laptop Help!

Ok fellas I need to know what to buy, I am fixin to thro this one out the back door!

I dotn need much , not lookin to spend much, all I need is internet and a little memory, but good speed.

My personal cumputer is just for this, internet, and finding loads.
but needs to be quick.

but duo procesor, single processor? 80gb 160?
hp, sony , toshiba, gateway?

seriously , dont need much, just dependable, this one is about 4 years old.

soooo, what do I need to look for?

and please I am talking around $1000 or so, like I say they have a rough life in the rig

Get to Comp USA or in a few days Best Buy...since Microsoft is putting out a new operating system (Vista) there will be some panic sales at the big computer retailers. The old systems with some sort of XP will be distressed merchandise but fully operational and should fill your needs perfectly...

i bought my labtop from Bestbuy, openbox item, its 100% and i got 150 bucks off. Gateway with AMD Turion 64 processor. 3 year warranty was 300 bucks though if i drop it or anything i get a new one. so in about a year its going down the stairs. lol... total i paid 1000 bucks battery lasts about 3 hrs fully charged. have no complaints at all

I wouldn't worry about getting Vista. XP will download all the pr0n you need it to. Seriously Vista isn't worth the time unless your really into computers.

I know in Canada that Best Buy/Futureshop (same company) have "web deals" and sometimes they are really good offers and you can get it sent to the store to save shipping costs.

will do just about anything you need it to.

I have to agree with Prof's reasoning here.

BUT, don't let yourself buy an eMachine, and I personally would steer clear of the Gateways.

You should be able to get a pretty good deal on something with about a 3.2Ghz Processor, 512Mb Ram, and about 60-80 Gb Hard Drive. Watch closely the speed of the hard drive, try to get something with a 7200RPM drive.

How much RAM do you have now?
If you only need it for internet, the fastest processor in the world won't help beyond your connection speed.
You can probably improve what you have now for about $100.
