Went to my auto parts store to get the axle shaft seels and Diff. Cover Gasket but they gave me the wrong parts. The correct Cover gasket was found under the "Ram 2500 " search options. The seal they gave me was for a regular Ram 1500 (which was too small) I guess they found one that was listed under the Ram 2500 in their "internal cross reference book"with the OD of 3.089....
I know we dont have the regular axle of a Ram1500. But it has been a PITA trying to find the correct parts. for feature reference... what is the specs of our rear end? Isnt the Super 60? What size of ring & shaft O.D? Etc...Also can you guys Verify the other Seal they found is the correct one this time? It is a
National # 710067. Thanks guys.

Bump.. would like to get the seal today if possible

I have a Mopar axle seal I bought for the outer seal. Is this what you mean.

For the correct seal you are probably better off getting it from the Dodge Dealer. The nimrods at AutoZone/Checker etc have no clue.

Here's the one my local dodge dealer sold me a few years back when I thought mine was bad. 46995-1 on the seal edge

You are making this too difficult by trying to go through the AutoZone guys. It's not necessarily their fault, but a lot of the generic books don't even list the SRT10, leaving them looking at 1500's and 2500's and wondering what the heck you have. Contact VPRPWRD and he'll get you pointed in the right direction.

Trussman, why are you posting pictures of an axle seal for a Neon? :D

It better not be a neon. They charged the Viper tax on it when I got it.

I am looking into this for you and will post up what I come up with later today.

Thank you sir. I called the stealer ship and they said the one i got from Oriellys will work.

I called your local dealer, the one who told you that someone else's seal would work, losing out on a sale for themselves, and told them you refer to them the "stealer ship". They promised to give you "special treatment" in the future.

true.... guess they were trying to save me a hassle but at the end of the day they did loose a sell. either way they told me it would be about a week and a half to get the seal. I don't really want to wait that long when i could find something else locally that will work the same and not have to pay "Viper Taxes" + "Dealer Ship Mark Up". Besides, isn't National a pretty good recognized manufacturer for seals? I wouldn't be surprised if National is the actual Manufacture of the MOPAR seal :dontknow:
Regardless it wouldnt hurt to verify that the seal will "actually" work as they say it will.

The part number that has been posted on this thread previously by the OP and trussman is correct. 5137587AA, as far as cross reference I didn't go that far.

I'm sorry that you don't always get the correct parts from your dealer.

This thread sucks. I like better when we mislead and ridicule each other. Bunch-a-homos. :D

hmm... weeeelp. I guess what we need is shaft size, housing I.D, and Width of seal. Then we can compare with the specs of the National Seal. Also, the dealer ship tech mentioned that the reason why they have a "step" or "recess" on the outer face is so its easier to install. I.E using a socket that will fit the "recess" to help align the seal and pound it in. :dontknow:
