I just heard that there was a pretty bad accident in Florida yesterday as part of a funeral run that involved some friends of mine. At least 9 bikes were taken out by a driver going the wrong way on the highway. 3 or 4 guys were airlifted out of the scene, and I've heard that one has lost a leg. Not sure of the condition of the rest. Terrible thing to happen, especially at a funeral. Please send out some good thoughts to these guys if you can.

Where did this happen. I am in Florida and didn't hear about this.
I hope all your friends escaped injury.

Fuggin' cagers...

Hope your friends heal up good as new.

I still feel it where a teeny-boppin' ho on the cell phone rear ended me on my bike in '04...every day.

Thoughts and prayers sent. Amazing how these things happen at just the wrong moment. Just a matter of seconds one way or the other could have avoided the whole thing.

Sorry to hear about this. Sounds like the guys will be ok, which is the news that matters.

I don't think that the bikers will be charged, how could they be??

Hope everything comes out ok!

Wouldn't be too far of a reach to figure that one or more of them might have had a beer or two before heading out, that's all I'm thinking.

Yeah, hadn't thought of that....

This was very close to my house, prolly 25 miles....

It might just be me, and the way I read this, but it almost sounds as if the charges are going to be laid against the riders, not the cager. Sounds like they are already working out his medical excuse for this. Sure wouldn't surprise me, especially considering that some of these guys are club members.

It seems that anytime a biker's hit by a car that the cager comes up with some bullshit medical excuse. Like that azzhole Senator in (North, I think) Dakota who killed a gentleman on his H-D when he flew through a 4-way intersection @ 100+ MPH. If a medical condition/medication kept him from competently operating his car, he shoulda taken a fuggin' taxi.

Then there was another coot (80 y/o+) cager I recall reading about that killed a biker by taking a left in front of him (very common accident scenario with bikes). Evidently this fughead stated that he saw the biker, but thought he would have plenty of time/space to react and get around him.

That's all right I guess, bikers are just a lower form of life on the blacktop. Man I can't stand this shit, it drives me batty. It is way biker unfriendly out here in RI/NE, at least in my experience. Cagers just don't seem to give a fuck. When I'm caged my head's on a swivel for bikers, and if they need the right of way, they get it, no worries. Playing reindeer games (speeding up when getting passed, etc.) with bikers seems to be part of the driver's education out here.

Peace to your laid up brothers.

Vibes, prayers and love go out to everyone affected by this tragedy.....'specially the injured.

New buzz word of the hour for some of we "cagers".........

Nope...the "other" American V-Twin company. Not that it matters what you ride, as long as your happy with it!

Hearing a lot of stuff, but nothing concrete. But according to the rumors I've heard one guy will lose both legs and another will lose one. Hoping that ain't true.
