Need Help designing my NOS Kit

So I am planning on paper what I will need for a 75-200shot alternate fuel supply NOS Kit. I have a few questions if anyone would like to offer their insight....I am a Nitrous dummy right now but I hope to soon be hooked on the drug.

Question 1
Is a WOT sensor the safest and most effective way to tell NOS to spray? If yes then do you have to mount those silver things driectly to the throttle cable linkage? Is there an alternate way to do this?

Question 2
I am planning on installing a seperate tank which will hold a high octane fuel to mix w/ the nitrous rather than tapping the fuel rail. What fuel should I mix it with...112 octane, propane, nitro methane, top fuel alcohol?? For this an additional electric fuel pump is needed correct? How much fuel should it be able to flow?

Question 3
Besides having a good nitrous tune on a VEC2....is there any part of the nitrous it itslef that has a safety mechanasim for the engine whether electronic or mechanical?

Your input is much appreciated and don't worry I'll be posting pics and more importantly 1/4 mile times!:burnout:
 
Question 1 - I would add a WOT. You have to trigger it somehow with the throttle linkage. Usually, the hardest part of the install.

2 - I can't talk to propane, but yes, the highest octane gas you can get.

3 - Get an ON/Off switch and possibly a RPM switch 3000-5500.

Don't forget a purge system to get the air out of the line.

There are also bottle warmers for those in cooler climates.

1. you can use an electronic WOT switch which makes for a cleaner install. It goes off TPS voltage to sense WOT.

2. VP109 should be good if you go with gas, you don't really want to mix leaded and unleaded gas. you need a regulator to go along with fuel pump...most kits like fuel pressure going in to be around 43psi. If you go propane you can skip all that and just mount the tank with your -4 line...the propane will be high octane and no need for a fuel pump or regulator as the propane is pressurized and will flow in the 120-140psi range.

3. If you go the gas route, you can install a fuel pressure cut off switch to deactivate the system should the pressure drop below...lets say 35 psi for example.

What would be the issue with using leaded race gas in a fuel cell to supply the nitrous side other than the potential contamination to the cats and O2 sensors?

I have a friends that use 118 leaded race gas in off road EFI applications and they get over 200 hours on O2 sensors before having to replace them.

Just something that stuck with me, when I read somewhere a long time ago about being better not to mix lead with unleaded gas because of the different burn rates or something to that effect. I wasn't saying it because of the O2's or cats...The L only sees C16 when I race and have yet to burn out an O2...I know a lot of people that mix C10, 12 and 16 with 91 pump gas without issues but I guess the thought just sticks with me:dontknow:

My L friends told me the same thing.
 
cool thanks for the info guys. is propane a higher octane than say 110 or 112 octane? Sounds like an easier install on the propane....less parts. Does propane make it safer than say just tapping a fuel rail?
 
Correct me if im wrong but is it your trottle postion sensor, that is what my zex system is linked up to, so when i am at full trottle my system turns on.

the TPS voltage, the throttle position sensor, among others uses 1-5 volts (like a reostat switch) to tell the ecm what postion its at by what amount of voltage is passing thru it.

propane will "boil off" (like a can of carb cleaner spray gets cold if you hold it down and spray it for a while)
when it expands & releases into the intake tract pulling more latent heat out of the air/fuel charge, helping to control detontation, and allow more timing and more denser charge.
 
Also....is a purge kit necessarry? My buddy who has a NOS setup on his new stang said for manuals it can help w/ traction by not purging so it doesn't all hit at once?? make sense or is he smokin!?
 
You wouldnt need an alternate fuel source unless you were approaching the design limitations on your current fuel system would you? I understand for us gus that are running blowers,vecs,60lb injectors,striker heads etc....were may run out of fuel supply. But a stocker with a shot of 75-200hp...he sould have PLENTY of fuel at the rail right?? The propane and VP109 etc is higher octane and may be better for detonation but if your gonna run that in your truck anyways then why not just tap the fuel rail? THats what I would do. In fact that is what Im doin now....until the direct port system goes in...that carries its own cell.

Yeah I'm gonna keep it simple stoopid and just tap the fuel rail. VPRPWR said that he heard on of the NX head guys broke off and started TNT.
