Ok I am 90% done and cant get the pipes back together. Putting them on a QC. All I have left is to install the the short piece to the catless mids from Justin. The short section is already attached to the muffler and all the way against the stops. Do I need to drop the muffler section to slide the pipes together or can it be done without dropping the muffler section? I have slid the exhaust as far as it will go and only have one rubber isolater thingy on right now. Plus the mid pipes are loose so I have some room to work with them.

Amazingly the bolts came off from the header manifold with no issues. Didn't even break the fastner do hickies:rock:

So what am I not doing right to get these things back together?

sorry, i used Xmetal.
BUt did want to say hi, ope you are well.
tell george i said hi

Everything is good as soon as I get these pipes back together! I just talked to George today and he was telling me they got some snow in Atlanta. Did you have to use the short pipe section too on X-metal pipes. Should be the same for install in a general sense? How did you get the pipes together?

yep, but the 06s had a short piece of pipe inthere already, i think the bed is 6" longer. gary made my pipes to long by about an inch so id moved my whole exhaust system back...with a mallet:D :nurse:

I think I have the same short section as you do. I will check out the thread you linked.

Thanks Carlos and wash that dirty sum bitch you call a truck some time:D

Well gonna go back outside and try to get this together again.

It sounds crazy but put some liquid soap on the pipe ends and it will help I did the same install on my 06 with jmb mid pipes

I was using some Marvel Mystery lube to help with that, it seemed to work ok. But I can't get the mid pipes to line up with the extention piece to slip them on. Seems like they are about an inch too long. I guess I will have to wait for the exhaust shop to open up to be able to finish.

I even tried dropping the muffler and uh................that didn't work. I could barely move that sucker. So there was no way in hell I would have been able to line up the pipes good enough to even start them. And putting it back on was a workout too!

Just for fun decided to take it around the block just to piss off the neighbors:D It sounds ok at idle, part throttle sounded like crap and WOT above 3K rpm sounded bad ass:rock:

And when I pulled back into the driveway the house was shaking:D

Got everything finished with the help from the exhaust shop. They had to take off the muffler section, cut the braces on the extention piece. Then everything went together. Now the tail pipes stick out past the bumper. I think it looks better that way.

I couldn't feel the difference in power. Probably because I was spinning the tires more:burnout: Damn driver mod sucks:D But now it sounds like a Viper:rock: Wasn't sure if it would be too loud for me and it isn't, so now I gotta get me a cat-back system.

Just for giggles I tried to price out a Magnaflow around here and they were wanting $800:( One guy even called them Maggetflow:D

Hey man, I have a complete magnaflow set that I installed on the truck, rode around the block, and took back off, too loud. If you want it I'll send it to you for $200 less than anyone else's cost.

yes, think for exhaust install you have to work from engine and piece by piece backwords.... i can imagine it's almost impossible to replace a piece in the middle... with pipe in pipe connections. Flanges would make that work.
