Need Help Liftgate

So you have an electric tailgate lock? I just installed one of these and wondered to myself what happens if battery dies or lock motor dies.
Let me look. I think you can still release latch.

its a normal door lock switch, two wires connect, usually they are ran down the drivers side from the tail lamp, to the cab , some do them different, you will need to find the wiring, apply 12 volts to one, ground the other, see if the mechanism is working , it could be the wires are broken somewhere, but apply the 12 volts to the system, see if it unlocks, or if it locks, then reverse the polarity.
its a very primitive unit, easy to work on.
if the solenoid is faulty, then you will need to use a rod, go thru the gate and the cover, to hopefully catch the unlock lever on the cover.

Ok i need help I've tried everything i can't get the fing thing unlocked

Do you hear it trying when you arm/disarm remote?
Try opening handle then locking/unlocking. If it barely catches latch it'll jam it to prevent thieves from getting in.

Does the tailgate lock when you hit lock on the key fob? (general question because I really dont know)

Gonna have to pop the top. Might want to have a locksmith give it a go if you can't get it. BUT you know where the handle is... a locksmith doesn't.
I had to do it on mine once... can't do it with a coat hanger. It has to be a bit more sturdy. I have a lock pick set with all kinds of rods and it had one that worked great.

Was something like this

Crow bar, need to take the bed cover and tailgate off for weight reduction any way....

Did you try to pull on the handle while trying to lock/unlock the tailgate?

ya know who's tail gate lock it is???

have ya tried them???

WD-40 and duct tape…not sure how youre gonna make that work…but you should be able to fix ANYTHING with those two items. If that fails, then a hammer usually works. Nah but I hope you get it open man, that sucks. Im sure a locksmith could pop it open for like 20 bucks, and probably identify the issue, maybe even fix it for ya. Good luck homie.
