I need to Tap this wealth of Knowledge about srt-10 Ram pickups.

This POS radio/CD combo that is stock in the trucks has given me nothing but headaches (2004 rc). Ate CD's on me, fixed it, now it won't take a CD and makes a noise that drowns out my exhaust system, and that's loud I'm told. Need to swap it out, So I'm asking for Recommendations on a after market replacement that is the Best fit for both the Speaker system which I want to leave, and the Physical fit in the hole in the dash. All and any thoughts appreciated .........

Thanks

Jim

I'll check with Wes .... Looking for a quick fit swap, same hole in dash, same speakers. Oh and not to bad on the wallet I hope.

Thanks

Jim

No :D

Basically any aftermarket head unit you put in will require a "kit" to make it fit. I don't like the looks of the kits so I used my stock REC radio to base my system off of.
I know you are anal with the looks of your truck, so I would encourage you before you look any further to go to your local electronics store and look at the kit to fit your truck.
Your best bet might be staying with an OEM radio. Stop fixing yours and look on here or ebay for another one.

Another option would be having a custom stereo shop do something like this. I know others on this forum have done this

The dash kits look like this

Thank you guys for the info. That dash kit looks great, guess I'll surf around for something OEM fit as recommended. I'll keep ya's filled in or I'll be back with more questions. That custom one is up in the price range I'd bet.

Thanks

Jim

Do you have the non-nav radio or the one with navigation?

I had the same problem Jim, If you disconnect the battery you need to empty the CDs first and turn the unit off. After your finished working on the truck and re-install the battery cables, Then reload the CDs. Also if you need a 6-disk unit i have a new one in the garage, Let me know. Here is some pics. of what i went with.

That will work Paul, I'll PM ya about it. The damn thing sounds like a blender for 15 seconds or so each time I start up the Truck. So I may take you up on the CD, How is the install, upside down on your head for 3 hours or what?

By the way ..... Thanks the rest of you guys for the info, Mine is a non-nav unit. Will a nav unit fit from 05 or 06 ?
