Ya, its stamped on the passenger side of the rear axle. Part of the numbers were covered by the brake line which is secured to the axle. I have a white tag on top of the axle which is about to come off. If I pull it off I may not get whatever numbers are on it.

Ok jsut got off the phone with the guy and this is the deal, the number IF stamped on the axle would start with a 60 and if it is on the tag on the axle it will start with the axle ration followed by more numbers.

what I am trying to find is a detroit locker that will fit our axles.

the guy so far has been great, his is looking at possibly modifying a current locker to fit our axles.

he also can build a new rear axle to accept our brakes and rotors for around $2500-$2800 which would include locker axles, everything but brakes and rotors, but he also said he should be able to work that problem out also.

Dave or anyone see if you can find the numbers he is talking about, if looking at the rear cover if stamped on the axle it would be at the 3 o clock position, if on the tag it would start with the axle ratio.
thanks guys.

I've got the truck with me here at work. I'll take a look outside in a bit. The numbers I gave you were in the 3 o clock position. I'll get back with ya soon.

Damn... just got the 06 number....right side of the differential, on the axle... right where the brake line takes a 45 degree turn down...to follow into the brake assembly. Your diagram is perfect for location.

My numbers are half worn off...but it is an (the best I can tell)

062001_ _ _ Tried to "bring it out" ...but no luck. The bottom half of the numbers are worn off...if I had to guess...the # would be

062001813........ but your going to need confirmation before I would trust it.

Sorry bud... wish it was easily read. Someone has to have it.

To my knowledge it's impossible to rework a detroit locker to work with C-Clip axles.

It seems like this has been talked about for over a year and still nothing has been produced. If you like I can contact a local guy I know (Bill Schriebner. He is well known in the street rod scene) and see how much he would want to convert our rearends to allow running 16 inch wheels and a Detroit Locker. If so let me know and I will stop by his place tomorrow.

Glad to hear from ya bro, yeah get a $ figure, the guys I'm talkin to are up in Warren michigan and well I dont know but they are trying.:D

Damn, couldnt see any numbers besides what I gave ya. these are located in a similar position near the 45 degree bend in the brakeline to the right of the pumpkin. I'll check tomorrow with better sunlight on the axle.

I am wondering now if that's the date...and not the # were looking for. I was looking over the initial diagram...and I think the number we are looking for is possibly under the line... (number 2 arrow...not the #1 arrow on the diagram):dontknow:
I will look again when I pull the truck out tomorrow.

I couldnt find anything near #2 in the diagram. I tried moving the brakeline thingy a bit to see if anything was under it and saw nothing. GRRRR

seems to be the brass tax....if you rework the enire rear end....you don't want a locker you want a quaife.....

Once I have the new rear I'll let you guys know how we did it. We've got everything worked out in theory with the companies, now that I'll be able to get a housing (should win the auction tomorrow), we'll be able to confirm everything.

The fact this thing is a C-Clipped axle, screws up everything. Once I pull mine out, I'll be able to build an extra for someone, just an FYI.

I'm in.....:D .....

Not sure what the fuck you mean with that reply Mike.:dontknow:

Thanks guys for all the help! I sent those numbers to him, and whether or not he is able to help I figured i would take a shot.
He told me of some other things they were able to reconfigure so maybe he can do the same with this one

let ya'll know

Iknow Jack has the entire deal to convert, and 400's working on a deal , I am jsut trying to find a simple replacement, but it will still leave the brake problem. but fo rthose that have allready shaved the calipers, if we can get a locker to work then the axle will be close to bullet proof, \may be one of us can figure out a solution.
