mine was never dynotuned, I just used the tuning that came with Paxton. When I bought the flash from DC the only thing done was just the fan control. The programming on the split second from Paxton leaves a ton of power on the table but safe, so safe I had no second thoughts about running nitrous on top of that very same tune.

Cool! I know about the nitrous, I had to plug the holes tapped into the intake tube.:D

Would at some point really like to see dyno progression for stock, with Paxton, Paxton with flash, Paxton with flash and 150 shot...

The progression would be very interesting and instructive.

Maybe one of our vendors....Boomer or DC would be willing to do this with someone's truck???

When my truck had the Paxton added it was only checked to ensure the a/f was ok. It was never tuned. I'm told that "out of the box" they are ok or in another word "plug and play".

I dont think I would go out and do any drag racing or hardcore racing of any type until I had the truck dynotuned, otherwise from what I'm told it should be ok.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND A BLOWER FLASH from either Dan or Boomer. I can only speak for Dans stuff right now. I gained a full second in my 1/4 mile times by adding Dans blower flash/pcm/thermostat. On the Paxton SRT Rams Dan found something called a wide open throttle timer delay. This delays full fuel enrichment for up to 3 seconds. When you launch the truck from a standstill (without any of the flash's) it falls on its face (remember my post about me and Broke drag racing?). When I installed the flash 2 weeks later and went back to the track I lowered my 1/4 mile times at least 1 second and gained about 5 mph.

So, to answer your question...you should be able to drive the truck after the Paxton install but of course its highly recommended to have the a/f checked and dynotuned. Also, get the blower flash. The power and 1/4 time improvement (a full second for a thousand bucks (with the spare pcm) cant be beat for cost/hp.

Thanks Dave. I have been driving around with Boomers blower flash for a couple of months already.Even though I had not installed the Paxton yet, Boomer said it was ok to put in.Even though the truck was not under boost, I did notice a performance gain. I have a lot of work ahead of me this week in order to get ready for Famoso on sat.

Personally I would have it dyno tuned to MAKE doubly sure your in the right range. Trust me bro - you DON'T want to have an emergency rebuild ;)

Most important - good luck!

I have to agree 100% with this approach. And IMO it should be Boomer or DC that does the tune.

chris from DC performance will have his laptop with him....throw him a few $$ at the track and have him make sure evrything looks good...

then drive the piss out of it....

Thats a killer idea! I will drive mellow down there :driver: and hopefully he can verify the tune is safe.Ther are no Viper tuners in my area.So I will have to wait to have DC check it out. Thanks for the heads-up.:burnout: :)

No such thing as an emergency rebuild. That would imply that it can be done quickly.:p
