Need software to convert video into ipod touch format

I've been searching for a software that can convert an avi video file into a file that I can play on my ipod touch, anyone got any suggestions? I need this tonight so I'm kinda in a time crunch and I'd prefer it to be free (free trial or something like that) and not with a 5min max conversion. Thanks in advance and I'll keep looking myself.
