Wow.. I'm really in a pickle. YES! a PICKLE!.... (AHHHHHH):damnmate:

Okay, I'm trying to do the best I can with what I got at the moment. I'm tired of watching this truck just sit here. Everyday, passing it by in the other vehicle.. *sniff* sucks!

Now I know about Stinkers PS and Oil Lines. They are perfect! But there is a lot of headache for me to get these over here. I don't got a CC, and I got paypal but the amount of days it takes to transfer the sheeet over, takes too long.

So I began researching about everything I can. Found a couple really helpful threads at "SRTconnection" and I was stoked!

However, I'm at a loss with the sizes and certain fitting sizes I'll need. At the moment, I have to remove the lines which if I'm correct, 1 1/4" to take off the oil cooler lines. I'll need to drain engine oil first - drain plug 15mm or 17mm and is aluminum (so I gotta be careful about not rounding edges) So that's 1 set of 2 hoses done. Awesome!

But..

The power steering... There's what size? Same? I'll need a crows foot to remove one. Can a torque wrench with a crows foot work - 90 degrees of course when torquing it back up? 50ft-lbs? or 38ft-lbs?

When I put everything back. Is it just as easy as putting in new 0w40 oil (with new oil filter too) 10 quarts start, then top off until level and starting engine? Or do I need to bleed it? I'll start the engine once the power steering fluid is in of course. Bleeding the power steering is simple right, just put in fluid, move steering wheel lock to lock after opening bleeder valve, then close, top off, repeat?

The best thing I can think of at the moment is doing it this way, purchasing over at a local shop. Nothing against Stinker! I might even go his way if the shop guys can't understand what I'm asking them... 'cause at that point, I'd have cussed enough to sail a ship!

Dodge dealership was gonna charge me $835 with labour! Come on now... and with the same crappy OEM lines too.

I'd really like some help with this, it's starting to get very overwhelming. I'm going to and from two different homes with tools to get this started only to forget I left some tools at the other place! Hard to fit it in on the shop schedule, work schedule, my schedule.

Also noticing the rust accumulation on the pulley bolts. What's the procedure in replacing most?

:dontknow:

Where is "over here?"

Stinkers lines have the correct fittings which are hard to match at a local hydraulic hose shop. He will gladly work to get them to you. Take the lines to any decent local garage and let them do the install and the cussing.

its a real simple install, order em from stinker and save a lot of time hunting the fittings down. as far as bleeding the system its not needed, just fill with oil, run it till the oil pressure comes up, check the level and add a little more to get it back to full, just like a regular oil change.

by the time you find the parts - make the lines - and install them, find the leaks - replace them, and install them again

you could'a had Stinkers lines there and installed worry FREE

just my .02

His location says Earth (34-24-36). I take that to mean that he is somewhere where the women have small breasts and big asses. I'm going to guess.....Brazil? Is that correct?

Thanks for setting us straight Wifey
Just had to, most women are not toothpicks and silicon bags:marchmellow: ;)

I did mine before Stinker's were around. See
http://vtcoa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18526&page=6 for great info from ZCX and then the next page with the mods I did from his list (I just used a single swivel fitting instead of an adapter and fitting.

If you don't have experience in AN lines, I wouldn't suggest trusting your oil lines to your first try, and I"m MR DIY for everything. There is opportunity to assemble the fitting incorrectly such that it could fail under pressure.

I don't remember exactly what I paid for all of the parts; you can price them out on anplumbing.com but I expect the lifetime ones from Stinker aren't that much more...

Just my $0.02...:D

:thefinger: They all need lovin! :dancing2:

I got a shop here to find ones that work great, -10 AN fittings 45° 90°, 350 pro braided nylon hose, etc. I probably will just do the right thing in the end.

But I might as well tell the tale as I'm doing this as it's live and learn, right. For some, it's the only choice and to others, there's more. I like to take on projects that allow most of my own work done to it too, otherwise you'll have mechanics driving your truck (read a thread on that... suck) around or abusing the finish (no respect) or have missing parts (purposely or accidentally)

You gotta remember that I'm just starting out with this truck. Just because everyone says "GO WITH THIS!" doesn't mean I'm going to. I gotta look into to it to see what is involved and ask questions and so forth before I make anymore spontaneous decisions.... again (looks at truck)

However, thanks for the comments guys. :)

I purchased the fittings and line and made my own. By the time it was all said and done it cost me more money to make them myself than what Tony charges. I also had a bunch of pin holes in my bleeding thumbs as usual when building steel braid hoses. Making your own stainless lines sucks balls. Then there is always the chance they will still leak which also seems to be normal with reuseable fittings.

My advice is to get yourself a credit card and buy Tony's lines. Then in the future when you want his and JMB's other items you can purchase them with your new credit card without giving yourself a headache like you are doing now :D

Here are some tips and tools that I've used to help save your fingers:

http://www.anplumbing.com/installation.html
I've used this method to cut and found it to leave the fewest stragglers of any of the popular methods I've tried. Gets a little tough with -16 stainless braid though!!!

Also, I pressure test every assembly I make.
