We just sold a piece of Russian art today:rock: and need some help on how not to get killed on taxes . thanks for any help you can give me. Please e-mail me and I will fill you in cheers J.T.

pretty simple really....if you have owned it for over 12 months....the gain is a long term capital gain.....the key is that you owned it for over a year.....hint hint.....

long term cap. gains is about as friendly as you will get...

Hey Patrick your not to far off except its was a painting that my wife's family smuggled out during WW II and we got a bit more then the last Faberge Egg sold for :dancing: :dancing: just not to pleased to give the IRS 200K:mad: thought maybe a few of the big players might have some good coaching for us

I should have sold my grandfather, he was a German soldier captured by the British... Wonder what hes worth?

Wow, I guess that (lucky for you) this proves that one man's junk is another man's treasure. Sounds like you knocked it over the fence, congrats.
