quadster2005 said:Ok so I have spent hours upon hours trying to search and find all the information I am looking for, and its hit and miss. So I have a few questions:
1. Should I buy a K&N Drop in filter over a cai? Whats better for out trucks?
2. Do I need to spend 5-1000 on a cat back exhaust? On my old truck (V6 Tacoma) I took it to a place called eastside mufflers who made a custom cat back exhaust to my specifications (2 1/2" for the V6) and put on a flowmaster 40 series and an exhaust tip all for 200. They have alot of mufflers to choose from, and different piping sizes. I would want to keep the same exhaust tips. Do I need to buy a whole cat back unit or could I go to somewhere like eastside mufflers?
3. Whats the benefit of buying long tube headers over regular headers?
4. What tune/chip/flash is the best for our trucks. I live near LA and I see that DC is there so is that the best?
Thanks and i appreciate all the help!:marchmellow: :marchmellow: :marchmellow: :marchmellow:
Looks like you're just getting started. Near-term I suggest staying with the stock airbox but doing the drop-in K&N (I've had the JMB, changed to a Roe so abandoned the JMB, and am in the process of converting the stock system for connection to my Roe), avoiding headers (I have Belanger long-tubes.....other than saying I have them can't really justify at all from appearance or performance), going with a Magnaflow Cat-Back, and getting an SCT with a QC tune from Sean Roe. None of this will be much if any long-term waste while you think about your longer-term plan, and the combination will get your QC about the most bang for the buck without compromising driveability (including getting it inspected).
Enjoy,
