My buddies 05 Hemi Ram not giving an oil pressure reading on a cold start in the morning, but when he cycles the key, everything's good. Does it every morning. Anybody have this problem with their dd

oil pressure sending unit is a common failure. It just doesn't read some times.

Usually if the oil pressure sender fails you get a MIL because the PCM monitors that. I'd try T'ing in a mechanical oil pressure guage and see what's up.

Also, oil pressure indication on the instrument panel comes from the digital bus / pcm, not direct wired to the sender. Could be lots of fun stuff like a bad guage / instrument panel.

Not all the time, especially on an older new gen hemi.

Thanks guys, that'll have him a place to start. I figured it was a sensor or gauge motor but if the sending unit is common (and inexpensive) that sounds like a good place to start. Does anyone know if he could pick that up at a parts house or is it a dealer item only.

Should be able to get it anywhere.
