Ok fellas, i really never thought I would make it this far , but we have,

and with a rew of the pending hood sales, I have ran into a little trouble.

I need to be able to accept Credit Cards

Now doing research all day has my head splitting with pain, from what I can tell any of the online merchant accounts actually are just agents that you are working thru an actuall bank..

i guess my question is , i am hoping some of you guys have some information on this so that I dont make any mistakes.

but should I jsut go to my local bank and go thru them?

or is there an online source that would be better?

the one I have looked at closley is pro pay they seem to be reasonable, but I dont need the mistakes.

I have been using paypal and have had a few customers that paypal really gave a fit to , and honestly jsut accepting CC;s would probalby be a ton easier on me and ya'll.

so any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks ahead of time:)

Check your local banks Tony....discount rates vary........and if you are still using QuickBooks they have a credit card system that works with their software..

they do buddy, but to me there rates are a little on the high side to me:dontknow:

Credit cards

take a look at Godaddy.com they have ready made ecommerce solutions including credit card acceptance. You can kill two birds with one stone. Online shopping cart and credit card processing all in one. Good luck with that. Eric.

my site is thru godoody, so that may be my best choice?

the prob I had with quickbooks is the $15 a month charge?

I dont know what QBs discount rate is now but their rate was low enough that you still saved even with the fee..........if you can get close to 2% discount rate you are doing good.....normally the higher your single ticket item is the lower the rate..

GoDaddy does have some good options, but they all have an associated charge.

Like Larry said, you should be able to set up an account that will charge you a modest 2% per transaction, but they all have a minimum monthly amount that you have to meet or pay the difference. For instance:
If they are charging you 2% per, and they have a minimum of $25/month, but you only charge $100 worth of transactions, (2% of $100 is only $2) you would still owe $23 at the end of the month.

There are some other charges too, like charge-back. Usually charge-back is $25 per transaction, but some charge more if you do more charge-backs than they allow.

There is a lot of fine print!

Good luck!

It all depends on the amount of volume you do if you should go terminal service or online service. Here is the deal if you go through most terminal services, you will need to lease or buy a terminal. Terminals range from $300 up to $700 depending on your agreement with your provider. The banks can give you good rates but rates very depending on the card type and if the card offers rewards to the buyer. If you have a business account setup I would visit your bank first and see what they can offer you as an account holder.

Stay away from accepting Amex they have very high rates. My advice is to go through an online service and make sure they don't stick you with a contract, most do, and use them as your processor. Being in the bar biz we deal with CC's all day long in the end they cost you money from so many angles no matter what biz your in. Then there is the good ol charge backs from the guys who dispute charges for stupid reasons. Charge backs cost you not only a fee of around $25-$50 bucks but the provider will pull that money out of your account and or freeze it if there is a dispute, mark my words "it will happen".

In the end I would just use paypal, but again it depends on your volume. I have not heard of Godaddys service it maybe something to look into. Hope that helps a little. Cheers!

True.

Unless he is willing to get a paypal account and use his credit card as a primary source of funding. But, that delays the payment by a couple of biz days...
And... PayPal limits the amount of transactions you can do that way unless you open a biz account with them. Then, I think they charge you a fee per transaction too.

Tony take your time..I like having a local bank because when you have a problem, and you will have a problem, you have a person with a face to talk to and not some person on the phone that doesnt speak english...
