Hello,
I am so greatful to have a forum such as this for my new truck. This is my first venture into truck modding. In the past, as a teen I owned stock late 60's mustangs, and an LS1 firebird.
I bought my 2005 SRT10 Quad Cab from an ex-serviceman inthe Phoenix area. He had put custom headers and exhaust on it, lowered it by changing the springs, and has a custom "pearl green ghost" paintjob on it that has to be seen to be appreciated.
I recently installed a Volant CAI and am ready to have a SCT tune done to it. I was hoping to get others advise on mods to make. Here are a few of my questions, and thanks in advance for any of your advice.
a) It has 22" stock rims. I'm gonna put drag radials on it, and have to downsize to 20". Should I go stock, viper, or can someone point me to a good looking after market 20" rim for this truck?
b) I'm considering putting QTP electric cutouts on it before having it tuned. I have heard differing opinions on this. Some say don't do it, you need some backpressure or you'll change your torque curve and lose your low end acceleration. Others say thats a bunch of crap. IF I DO IT, will I need two SCT programs, 1 for open cutouts and 1 for closed? I'm worried that the cutouts will create an exhaust flow problem when closed.
c) Who should I have to my tune? My local mod shop, who has state of the art dyno and can custom tune it while it is on the dyno? Or just have the sucker dynoed and send the docs to DC performance?
Any other ideas you all have to make this truck quicker aside from rebuilding the internals and/or super/turbocharging it would be *greatly appreciated*. Like I said, I am new to this. I look forward to getting your feedback.
