I live in the bay area and haven't seen one Smart yet. I saw a shit load of them in Holland a few years ago though. If the dealerships are going in now they be all over the place in no time. Hey Annu, have you seen any Smarts over in Berzerkley?

Watch what happens when these or the Smart car arrives, and the American public gets into an accident with one....I wonder if they come with a trailer hitch to pull your attorney around with you !!?? To get the gas mileage, you drive up behind a Greyhound bus, and you put a hook on the busses rear bumper and you get pulled along with your family on vacation....

You'd be amazed at how safe the SMART cars are, esp. when it comes to impacts. They have this cool 'egg' that protects the passengers.

The only test they fail miserably at is the "Elk Through The Windshield At 50mph" test.
Then again, these types of commuter cars aren't designed for the highways.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised to see laws/regulations about these types of vehicles NOT being allowed on highways/freeways.
