New center console insert.

as far as i know the consoles are the same, bright red would be nice my truck is red and it would look good in the black console, thanks.

Finally got it done. looks pretty good installed, the pictures dont really do it justice, but you get the idea.

Turned out nice!

What color and what design? new style or old style viper head and what do you want it to read? i am working on Brats and then yours. I am not charging anything cause i need the tooling practice, so keep in mind the lines might not be exactly perfect.

Same imprint you showed, but can the imprints be Red and the background black and not as shiny? That looks killer.

i think i can dye the thing black and then use acrylic paints to do the red, or i can try to dye it red and then carefully try the black. i have never done 2 color dying so it would be an experiment. Worst that happens is the whole thing ends up being black. the shiny is the super sheen which seals the dye, but i will see if they make one that is more of a matte finish. AZMAL knows more about the dyes and sealing than i do. you definately want to seal it though or you might end up with dye all over your interior, at least thats what the people at tandy told me.

i believe i have enough leather for 1 more after these 2. if someone else wants it let me know. after that i will have to charge just for the leather (approx $8-$10 each) i will supply the dyes and sheen.

so far:

BRAT-
top: RAM
middle: new style viper
bottom: SRT-10
dyed: red

HAULINASP-
top: VIPER
middle: old style viper
bottom: SRT-10
dyed: black back ground-red lettering

Well there is a trick we use when doing color bands on armor. Shhhhh Get a black sharpie, and go along the lines with it, that way you have a perfectly crisp line and you dont have to worry about bleeding as much. Tip 2, do the black first. Even though the black is dominant, sometimes the first color will show through a little if theres any over flow. But if you do the black first, you can just sling the color on top and it wont have any effect on the black. Tip 3 Super Shene has about the same consistancy of wattered down elmers glue and as such, you can pile multiple coats to make it more glossy however, it can and will coagulate (gel up) with too many coats and over time will be more prone to start peeling. One coat after a little buffing is generally enough. If you don't like the glossy finish, there are other things you can get, just ask the folks at tandy for reccomendations.

great tips...thanks for all the info...will post some pics if they turn out like i hope they will...if not, might just end up with a bunch of black ones. thanks again

Hey all black is fine with me if the two tone is too much trouble....

For just getting started into this 2 weeks ago, your work looks pretty killer. . . Now I can't wait to see this first hand.

And this touches up an area that is not normally seen, finishes it off IMHO.
Looks very, very classy!

i will try the 2 tone, cant hurt...if it doesnt come out then i will dye it all one color. i will send you some pics once i get that far into it. i have one to do then i will be starting yours. the whole reason i did that area is because it is not seen much and i didnt know how it would come out. will keep you posted to the progress
